Iconic MINI makes its debut at IIMS 2011.

Jakarta . BMW Group Indonesia introduced its MINI brand for the first time at the 19th Indonesian International Motor Show (IIMS) 2011.  A special 180 sqm space at Hall B has been designed for the public to enjoy the authentic MINI brand experience as well as its three exciting models on display – MINI Cooper S Hatch, MINI Cooper S Cabrio and MINI John Cooper Works.

“It is so exciting for us to present the MINI brand for the first time at the IIMS 2011,” said Ramesh Divyanathan, President Director of BMW Group Indonesia. “MINI is an iconic brand that offers urban driving excitement, an emotional design, unique lifestyle and high degree of individuality.  MINI offers a new mobility option – unique from the ordinary - for the modern urbanites in Indonesia."

The brand MINI is written in capital letters. For Indonesia, MINI will initially offer 2 body-styles: MINI Hatch and MINI Cabrio. In each body style, different engine versions will be available for Indonesia from a 1.6 litre engine to a high-performance turbo-charged engine in the MINI John Cooper Works (JCW). Thus the full list of MINI models available are: MINI Cooper Hatch, MINI Cooper S Hatch, MINI Cooper S Cabrio and MINI John Cooper Works Hatch.

BMW Group Indonesia has recently announced the appointment of Nusantara Group as the Exclusive Partner for MINI in Indonesia.  A boutique MINI showroom is scheduled to open at a premium shopping mall in the last quarter of 2011.  The first MINI flagship showroom, complete with its lifestyle and accessories collection and state-of-the art workshop, will open in the first half of 2012.  

During the IIMS, the Nusantara Group is ready to take orders from the customers.  These special orders will be delivered to customers starting end of 2011.

All MINI purchased through Nusantara Group will come with MINI Service Inclusive, offering a five-year or up to 70,000 km free regular maintenance and two-year warranty without mileage limitation.  The after-sales service is supported by fully trained service advisers and mechanics at a state of the art workshop.

MINI Cooper S Hatch.

The new MINI Cooper S Hatch offers a more intense and thrilling experience of performance than ever before. As the more powerful of the new models, the MINI Cooper S Hatch comes with a 1.6-litre four-cylinder delivering no less than 184 hp at 5,500 rpm with the help of a twin-scroll turbocharger and direct gasoline injection. In the range between 1,600 and 5,000 rpm, this unique power unit develops maximum torque of no less than 240 Nm, further increased briefly by the Overboost function to 260 Nm whenever necessary.

The twin-scroll turbocharger is particularly effective in boosting power and performance on the MINI Cooper S Hatch. The ducts of two cylinders at a time are separated from one another in the exhaust manifold and turbocharger, serving to reduce exhaust gas counter pressure at low engine speeds in order to capitalise on the dynamic effect of the pulsating gas columns in the manifold. This effect enhances turbocharger response and ensures a particularly spontaneous build-up of engine power.

As a result, the MINI Cooper S Hatch is virtually free of the “turbo gap” when accelerating so typical of a conventional turbocharged engine. Acceleration to 100 km/h comes in just 7.2 seconds, engine flexibility and response is truly impressive also at high speeds, and the top speed of the car is an equally impressive 223 km/h.

The turbocharged four-cylinder featured in the MINI Cooper S Hatch benefits from the extra power of direct fuel injection applying the common-rail principle. The stainless-steel common rail linking all cylinders is filled with fuel by a high-pressure pump at the rear end of the intake camshaft. Injection valves positioned at the side of the cylinder head then deliver fuel within fractions of a second and in exact dosage from the common rail directly to the combustion chamber.

With this combination of a twin-scroll turbocharger and direct fuel injection, the new MINI Cooper S Hatch  offers remarkable performance in several respects: Specific output of the engine is approximately 115 hp per litre and fuel consumption is 1 liter for 14.9 kilometers  with a CO2 rating of 155 grams per kilometre.

MINI Cooper S Cabrio.

The new MINI Cabrio symbolises the thrill of motoring in the open air and bears out the unmistakable style of the MINI brand.  The unique features of the MINI Cabrio in its segment in terms of design, premium quality, handling, performance, efficiency, and functionality have been appropriately enhanced and improved to perfection.

Electrohydraulic operation of the roof including sliding roof function featured as standard. Option to open and close the soft top while driving is at a speed of up to 30 km/h.  A wider range of paintwork colours, roof colours, wheel rims, upholstery and interior trim provides even greater freedom in customising the car.

The new MINI Cooper S Cabrio features a new generation of four-cylinder petrol engines with twin-scroll turbo­chargers. Its 1,598 cc engine produces max output 184 hp and torque of 240 Nm.

Front-wheel drive, go-kart feeling typical of the brand with refined suspension technology tailored specifically to the MINI Cooper S Cabrio. Electric Power Steering (EPS). Brake system with anti-lock brakes (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), and Brake Assistant as well as Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Start-Off Assistant all featured as standard. Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) including electronically controlled limited-slip differential function on the drive wheels available as an option.

MINI John Cooper Works Hatch.

A big name, a long tradition, outstanding performance, figures and an incomparable driving experience: the MINI John Cooper Works arouses motor racing passion which goes beyond the race track. The heart beating under the bonnet of each of the two new extreme sports cars is that of a racer. The 1.6 litre 4-cylinder engine with Twin Scroll turbocharger and petrol direct injection delivers 211 bhp and develops its maximum torque of 260 Nm between 1,850 and 5,600 rpm – by means of overboost the torque can actually be increased to 280 Nm between 2,000 and 5,100 rpm. The power unit is based on the engine of the John Cooper Works CHALLENGE. It accelerates the MINI John Cooper Works in 6.5 seconds from 0–100 km/h.

The MINI John Cooper Works provides genuine racing feeling. It is fitted with extensive motor racing technology as standard: exclusive light alloy rims with especially light and extremely high-performance brakes, a new exhaust system and the modified 6-speed manual transmission.

Eight exterior paint finishes are available to choose from for the MINI John Cooper Works. Contrasting roof finishes and roof decor options provide a wide range of possible combinations. The basic fittings of the interior include  sport seats in leather Lounge.The decor strips of the interior is already Piano Black as standard. The accessory program also includes an interior strip in Carbon (check with Bayu).
