General shots of the BMW Welt and the arriving journalists, various shotsSpeech by Philipp von SahrBMW is currently the only brand to be present at all important tournament series worldwide. This makes BMW a Gobal Golf Player. The tournament has maintained its very own charm. There is a reason that no other event is so popular amongst pros and spectators. The world-class players as well as the number of spectators speak for themselves. Whereas in 1989 the event attracted 35,000 spectators, last year (in 2007) as many as 68,000 people came to see the players, a proof of the attractiveness of the event.Speech Colin Montgomerie:We have in Martin Kaymer here a great potential european golf player in the future. What he did, coming out, winning the rookie year and winning in Abu Dhabi so well, against the strengh of Westwood and Stenson, two top Ryder Cup players. To win that easily, if you like so, showed the great potential in him. All I can say is wish him great luck. Right now I believe, you are currently in the Ryder Cup team, if it was picked tomorrow, you would be in it. And I believe, this year 2008, we will follow on from the succes from Bernhard Langer in the Ryder Cup team – and I know all about him and the Ryder Cup team, he was a great partner and a great friend of mine. And it would be great if I can mae the team alongside youself (of Martin Kaymer), because I am shure that Martin will make the team. There will be nobody more proud than Bernhard Langer, sitting in America, that he does now, to learn that Martin has made the Ryder Cup team to take on Bernhard Langers mantle.I think Bernhard would agree with me that Martin Kaymer has more talent than Bernhard Langer. Bernhard Langer worked extremly hard to achieve what he had achieced, which is remarkable, but Martin Kaymer has the most talent right now on the european tour. Speech Martin Kaymer:I don't have a mental coach. It's hard to explain but I think it's just in me. There's no other person that tells me you have to think this and that.I just play and it's lot of fun.I play golf just for fun. There’s no denying that you earn a lot of money if you are a good player but all this is not very important to me. To tell you the truth, this doesn't have top priority. I became a golf pro to have fun. Golf is my life, I love playing golf, I like practising, I regard it as a normal job. And I didn't become a golf pro to earn a living.Only last week I was in Orgasta, shortly after the tournament in Bay Hill I flew to Atlanta with Funny Simison and we walked down the course, we were checking a few things. She had already been there 18 times, she gave me a few hints and told me which things to watch. I think it will be an impressive week, during which I will gain a lot of experience and learn a lot of things. I don't think to myself: Just go there and see what happens. My goal is to make the cut. I believe that I can make it. I don't know exactly what will happen but I think it's a great opportunity to have such an experience and play tournaments as important as this one at such an early stage of my career. This can only be of benefit to my future. I was very impressed by the course, the surroundings, the condition of the greens. It was indeed very impressing. I am eager to know how I get on.Practice. This is basically the only thing to say about this. To have the will to go and practise even if it's cold outside or if there's snow, and not to give up even if things don't work out quite

Golf is synonymous with dynamism, precision and success. The BMW brand stands for dynamism, precision and aesthetics. This is why BMW brand values and golf go so well with each other. Another reason is that these events not only attract many golf aficionados but also people who are interested in the BMW brand. The same applies to yachting and motor sports. This means that we can use golf sport to attract many new customers who share an interest with BMW. In addition, we are able to welcome our very own loyal customers against the wonderful backdrop of golf sport. That mixture of experienced golfers we see there and the next generation of talent. Let me just mention Colin Montgomerie, winner in 1999, a most experienced golfer and at the same time Martin Kaymer, the current Rookie of the year on the European Tour, who started exceptionally well into the new year. To have the chance to see these two generations playing together in a tournament and to feel the atmosphere of the BMW International Open Eichenried is reason enough to visit this event.

Very important. When I won in Munich in the BMW International Open back in 1999, I was the first person to reach a million pounds in price money, in Sterling. It was my fifth victory that year. It was a very important time for me, and it was a very proud moment. It was the first time I won a european BMW tournament. I tried about ten times. It was nice eventually to win, to win in 1999, it was my best year. The hospitality is superp. The way the players are treated. We are treated like royalty this week if you like. We are driven in very very lovely cars to and from the course. We are looked after on the course and off the course. This makes the week very special, so we look forward to come back in June.He has got great potential, Martin Kaymer, and I am not saying that because I am speaking to a German television. No, no, Martin Kaymer is and will be very good. Martin Kaymer is the best player coming out of Germany since Bernhard Langer, there is no question. He has a great future ahead of him. What that future is, is up to him, how hard he wants to work. He has the talent, and talent is God given, he is very fortunated that way. He is working hard, and I think he has a great great future.I just want to get back in the Ryder Cup Team. I am currently outside the top ten and I want to get back into the top ten of the Ryder Cup Team. I have played eight Ryder Cups in a row, and I want to make it nine. And if I play well during the summer in Europe, I´ll make it. I look forward to doing so.

The BMW Open is very special to me as this is the tournament in which I made the cut as an amateur but not yet as a professional. And it is a very special feeling to win in your home country. I was lucky to win the tournament in Abu Dhabi, this was a great feeling. But to experience the same thing in Germany tops everything.I like going to the drive range; there are two elderly gentlemen, who wash the golf balls and give them to you. I like seeing them. I believe they are from Scotland, I always think back to this. And the players' lounge which is adjacent to the 18th hole, a very nice place. The city that’s been built there appeals to the spectators. The whole package is simply great.
