BMW Motorrad Motorsport News: BMW S 1000 RR racers claim more wins in several championships.

British Superbike Championship: Superstock win for BMW racer Taylor Mackenzie.

Last weekend, the fourth round of the British Superbike Championship (BSB) season took place on the Grand Prix circuit at Brands Hatch (GBR). In the Superbike class (BSB SBK), Peter Hickman (GBR / Smiths Racing) recorded his best result of the season so far on the new BMW S 1000 RR. He claimed fifth place in the first of the two races. He was followed by the two Tyco BMW Motorrad riders Keith Farmer (GBR) and Christian Iddon (GBR) in sixth and seventh positions. In race two, Iddon crossed the line in sixth place, directly ahead of Hickman and Farmer in seventh and eighth.

In the Superstock class (BSB STK), BMW racer Taylor Mackenzie (GBR / Bathams Racing) celebrated his first win of the season. He triumphed in Sunday's race on his RR, crossing the line a full six seconds ahead of the field after 16 laps in damp changeable conditions. On Saturday, Mackenzie had finished third to reach the podium in both parts of the marathon race. These results allowed Mackenzie to move up to second place in the championship standings. Alex Olsen (GBR / Team IMR) finished the first part of Saturday’s race in fourth position. However, he retired early from the second part of the marathon race, and again on Sunday. Olsen is now third in the championship standings, behind Mackenzie.

International Road Racing Championship: Davey Todd extends championship lead.

The second event of the 2019 International Road Racing Championship (IRRC) season took place in Imatra, Finland. Davey Todd (GBR) from the WEPOL Racing team extended his winning streak. As at the Hengelo (NED) season-opener, Todd won both races with his BMW S 1000 RR and extended his lead in the championship standings. Erno Kostamo (FIN / 38 Motorsport) finished third to reach the podium in both races. Marek Červený (CZE / WEPOL Racing) crossed the line in fifth and fourth positions. Didier Grams (GER / G & G Motorsport by BMW Motorrad) secured tenth and fifth-place finishes. Sadly, the weekend in Imatra was overshadowed by a tragic accident; in Saturday's Superbike race, the Swiss Yamaha rider Mathias Gnägi suffered a fatal accident. The BMW Motorrad Motorsport community would like to express deepest condolences to his family, his friends and his team.

Malaysia Superbike Championship: BMW S 1000 RR dominates season-opener.

The 2019 Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSC) season started at the Sepang International Circuit, near Kuala Lumpur (MAS). The BMW S 1000 RR dominated the season-opener. Four BMW racers were competing and secured a top-four lock-out in all three races. Victory in race one went to reigning champion Muhammad Farid Badrul Hisham (MAS / Horizon Racing Team). Second place went to Muhammad Zulfahmi Khairuddin (MAS / SIC Junior ZK Racing). They swapped places in the second race as Khairuddin emerged victorious and Badrul Hisham finished second. In the third and final race, it was once again Badrul Hisham who topped the rostrum as winner. As in the first race, Khairuddin finished second. Amirul Hafig Azmi (MAS / ONEXOX TKKR SAG Racing Team) secured the third podium spot in all three races. Joe Sharul (MAS / BMW) completed the top-four lock-out each time. In addition, Sharul was classified first in the Superstock class.

South African Superbike Championship: two podiums for Lance Isaacs

The fourth race event of the South African Superbike Championship (RSA SBK) season took place at the weekend at Aldo Scribante, South Africa. BMW racer Lance Isaacs (RSA) from the LIR / Supabets Gaming Group team enjoyed a successful day of racing on Saturday. He finished second with his BMW S 1000 RR and reached the podium in both races. This allowed him to claim overall victory in the daily standings. “The first race was really interesting,” reports Isaacs. “The conditions were extremely poor and I had a few moments when I nearly fell. That's why I decided not to take too many risks. The second race was great. Our pace was good enough for the win, the bike just felt fantastic and I had a great duel with Clint Sellers. I just made a few mistakes on the last two laps. I am satisfied, as I can head home having scored some important points. I can't thank the team enough for setting up an absolutely brilliant bike for me.” The fifth race of the season takes place on 27^th July at Zwartkops (RSA).

MotoAmerica: fourth race of the season at Utah Motorsports Park.

BMW racers in the MotoAmerica AMA Road Racing Series (MA) were in action last weekend at Utah Motorsports Park (USA). It was the fourth event of the season. Jack Gagne (USA / Scheibe Racing) finished in seventh place in the two Superbike class (MA SBK) races. Travis Wyman (USA / Weir Everywhere Racing) crossed the line in fourth place in the Superstock class (MA STK) race.
