Asian Le Mans Series: Walkenhorst Motorsport wins the GT title.
Walkenhorst Motorsport has started the 2023 season with a title. The team from Melle (GER) won the GT class in the Asian Le Mans Series with the #34 BMW M4 GT3 last weekend. The team and drivers Nick Catsburg (NED), Chandler Hull and Thomas Merrill (both USA) laid the foundation for their title win at the first of two race weekends, with two class victories in Dubai (UAE). The trio then confidently defended their lead in the two four-hour races in Abu Dhabi (UAE). Catsburg, Hull and Merrill finished fourth in a chaotic race to pick up valuable points in Saturday’s third race of the season. On Sunday, the #34 BMW M4 GT3 crowned its title-winning campaign with second place. The title in the Asian Le Mans Series comes with an invitation to the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans (FRA) in June 2023.

GTWC Europe: Walkenhorst Motorsport lines up with two BMW M4 GT3s.
Walkenhorst Motorsport also provided positive news away from the racetrack at the weekend. The team confirmed that it will start with two BMW M4 GT3s in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS. One of the cars will contest the full season and line up in the Silver class of the Sprint and Endurance Cup. The second car will start in the Pro-Am class in the endurance races. All but one of the driver positions have already been allocated. Anyone interested can contact the team directly at info@walkenhorst-motorsport.com.
The start in GTWC Europe sees Walkenhorst Motorsport return to the scene of its greatest triumph. In 2018, the team won the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps (BEL) with the BMW M6 GT3. With BMW M Team WRT already having confirmed that it will run two cars in the series, there will be a very strong BMW M4 GT3 contingent in the 2023 Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS.

GTWC America: John Edwards starts for ST Racing.
BMW M works driver John Edwards (USA) will start for the ST Racing team in the 2023 season of the Fanatec GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS. Edwards will share the cockpit of the BMW M4 GT3 with Samantha Tan (CAN). “I am delighted to contest my first full SRO season with the ST Racing team,” said Edwards. “I know the team has worked hard in the off-season, and I can hardly wait to win a few races together with Samantha.” Samantha Tan: “I am thrilled to welcome John to the team. He is an incredible and experienced driver, from whom I can learn an awful lot. This is the first time I have had the privilege of working with a works driver. That will definitely be a boost for my development as a racing driver.”

GT Winter Series: Podium for Schubert Motorsport.
Schubert Motorsport kicked off the season last weekend in the GT Winter Series at Valencia (ESP). The DTM-winning team used the event as preparation for the many challenges awaiting them in 2023. Darren Leung (GBR) was at the wheel of the BMW M4 GT3, which was making its debut in the series. Leung, who will race alongside BMW M works driver Dan Harper (GBR) for Century Motorsport in the 2023 British GT Championship, came home third in the second race of the weekend. He also finished fifth and fourth in races one and three.
