Exclusively for China, from China: the BMW X5 and BMW iX5 Long Wheelbase.

The new BMW X5 and the first BMW iX5 are being introduced as standalone model variants in China. These combine the technical innovations and exciting design of the BMW X5 with the future-oriented technologies of the Neue Klasse and features that have been designed to meet the expectations of the Chinese car market and its customers.

Exclusive comfort on wheelbase extended by 130 millimetres 
The most important distinguishing feature of this model variant for the Chinese market is the extended wheelbase. This is 130 millimetres longer than the wheelbase in the BMW X5 model variants available elsewhere in the world, with a total length of 3,165 mm.   

This long wheelbase delivers an even more comfortable and stable driving experience, while also providing a more spacious cabin environment with plenty of legroom, especially in the rear compartment. It also underlines the unmistakeable proportions of the BMW X5 and BMW iX5, adding a dash of elegance when viewed from the side and contributing to a particularly self-assured appearance.  

Distinctive design characteristics for BMW X5 and BMW iX5. 
The striking diagonal light icons are another distinctive design characteristic of the BMW X5 and the BMW iX5 for China. According to personal preference, customers can also request to switch to light icons with a double-X design. Additional light strips between the light icons and the BMW kidney Iconic Glow emphasise the depth effect inherent in the design of the front end and also form part of the dynamic welcome and goodbye animations.  

The BMW X5 also boasts a front end redesigned for the Chinese market.   

Interior combines luxurious comfort with the intelligence of the Neue Klasse. 
The BMW X5 and the BMW iX5 for the Chinese market also feature a new, clearly-structured interior design concept with streamlined surfaces and refined decorative elements. Wide-ranging adjustments based on a new, monochromatic colour concept elevate the relaxed interior ambience to a new level. Specially developed seating for both front passenger and rear occupants also improve ride comfort. Premium materials such as slate and glass blend with the inviting atmosphere of the cockpit to underscore the luxurious spatial concept, incorporating highlights powered by the technologies of the Neue Klasse, in the form of the three-dimensional backlit accent strip with integrated ambient lighting.  

The new BMW Panoramic iDrive display with BMW Operating System X is integrated seamlessly into the interior design with BMW Panoramic Vision, a free-cut Central Display that appears to float, and the BMW Passenger Screen available for the BMW X5 for the first time. Digital innovations, specifically adjusted to the requirements and expectations of Chinese customers, blend with the relaxed ambience to deliver a unified, harmonious experience. The next iteration of BMW Theatre Screen is a true highlight in the Chinese models, delivering top-quality entertainment to the rear compartment with 8K streaming and gaming and significantly simplifying mobile working in the car with the video call function.  

Focus on driving pleasure in all models.  
Regardless of the type of drivetrain, the BMW X5 and BMW iX5 continue to boast the driving pleasure that is typical of BMW. Both benefit from adaptive two-axle air suspension as standard, which absorbs the effect of uneven surfaces to provide a particularly comfortable driving experience. For more than 20 years, BMW has been a pioneer in the development of driver assistance systems, always placing safety and reliability under complex, real-world conditions at the forefront. For the new generation of intelligent BMW driver assistance in China, BMW combines decades of experience in functional integration and operational safety with the strengths of locally trained end-to-end AI, developed in partnership with the Chinese company Momenta. The result is a unique system for navigation-guided “Address-to-Address” driver assistance. The central computer for automated driving works in harmony with “Heart of Joy”.  

For the first time, the new combustion-engine BMW X5 will be available in China alongside the all-electric BMW iX5 featuring innovative sixth-generation  
BMW eDrive Technology. In conjunction with the high-voltage battery concept, this enables confident, effortless electric travel with a range over 1,000 km (CLTC). Market launch is scheduled for 2027.
