BMW Group Ireland model revision measures and 202 Model Offers.

The new BMW 5 Series, launching summer 2020, reaffirms its leading position in the premium executive class with a more modern, hi-tech appearance, a refined interior, cutting-edge innovations and technology, and greater efficiencies with most models now featuring 48- volt mild-hybrid technology and the introduction of three new Plug-in Hybrid variants from 11/20.

Alongside the new BMW 5 Series Plug-in Hybrid variants, the BMW X2 25e and BMW 3 Series Touring and xDrive variants for Saloon and Touring models will also join BMW’s Plug-in Hybrid range in summer 2020.

The new BMW M5 Competition, also launching summer 2020, offers an exceptional level of engineering and performance paired with an enhanced striking new appearance to the front and rear.

The all new BMW 4 Series world premiered in June and is available for order. Refreshingly bold and progressive, The 4’s design language is aggressive yet elegant. The large, vertical kidney grille resides confidently as the centre-piece of The 4’s striking new appearance. Alongside a distinctive new design, The 4 also sets a new benchmark for performance with enhanced driving dynamics and agile handling. A new and improved range of BMW TwinPower Turbo four and six-cylinder engines offer customer’s the choice between three petrol and two diesel variants available from launch, spearheaded by the M440i xDrive. 48 – Volt mild hybrid technology in all diesel models and the M440i xDrive ensures even sharper power delivery combined with reduced fuel consumption and emissions.

MINI Ireland 202 Offers and New Models

MINI has a strong 202 program in place, offering 4.9% APR on all Cooper models and a 2.9% APR with an upgrade contribution of up to €800 on specific Sport / Exclusive Style models.

Summer 2020 will see the launch of the new MINI Countryman. The largest and most versatile member of the MINI family, the new MINI Countryman features design enhancements to the front and rear bumper, a new head and taillight design with LEDs as standard, and new personalisation options including exterior paints, wheel designs and a range of interior and exterior styling features allowing customers to put their own stamp on their vehicle. With extra interior technology, the new MINI Countryman combines the rugged off-road look with sleek city design; the new model will include a digital dash and larger 8.8” central instrument display as standard.

The first customer orders of the new MINI Electric have arrived in Ireland. The MINI Electric is the first MINI and first small car in the premium segment to run on electrical power only, with a model-specific lithium-ion battery enabling pure electric ranges of 235-270km. Delivering the characteristic go-kart driving feeling, the new MINI Electric is every inch a MINI with performance close to the hot-hatch MINI Cooper S. Based on the same body shell as the 3-Door Hatch, the MINI Electric is offered in three trim levels, each providing customers with greater levels of personalisation and equipment. Standard equipment in the new MINI Electric include a new Digital Dashboard, Connected Navigation including Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI) and LED headlights and taillights.

48-Volt Mild Hybrid Technology

With the introduction of 48- volt mild hybrid technology in additional model series from summer 2020, BMW continues to consistently reduce fuel consumption and emissions in its current fleet. Mild hybrid technology will be used in numerous additional BMW models to provide support and relief for the combustion engine. It was first introduced in selected model variants of the BMW 5 Series in autumn 2019. This was followed by the BMW 3 Series models and several BMW X models. From July and August 2020, both efficiency and dynamic performance will be optimised in 49 models with the use of a powerful starter generator and an additional battery. It will be available in further model variants of the BMW 5 Series and BMW 7 Series as well as the BMW X3, X4, X5, X6 and X7.

BMW Digital Key for the iPhone

BMW will become the first carmaker to enable its customers to use iPhone as a fully digital car key. BMW was the first to integrate iPod in their vehicles, first to offer wireless CarPlay and now first to introduce support for BMW Digital Key stored securely in Apple Wallet for iPhone. BMW is excited to announce the availability of Digital Key for iPhone in 45 countries for a broad range of models: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, X5, X6, X7, X5M, X6M and Z4 if manufactured after July 1st 2020. Compatible iPhone models will be iPhone XR, iPhone XS or newer and Apple Watch Series 5 or newer.

Expansion of the model range for the BMW 2 series Gran Coupe

The all-new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe that arrived on our shores earlier this year will see an additional two engine variants to its range. A new entry level diesel engine and an additional all –wheel drive model variant.

BMW 3 Series Saloon and BMW 3 Series Touring now fitted with BMW Operating System 7 as standard.

In the new BMW 3 Series, the latest generation of display and control system will be a standard feature as of summer 2020.  BMW Operating System 7 offers extensive individualisation and personalisation of the content shown on the Control Display. The standard BMW Live Cockpit now also includes a redesigned instrument cluster with a 5.1 inch digital display at its centre.

Increased comfort and safety: Driving Assistant Professional with additional functions.

The optional Driving Assistant Professional is a particularly comprehensive collection of driver assistance systems designed to optimise comfort and safety: it is being used by BMW to pave the way to automated driving in numerous current models. The focus is on the steering and lane guidance assistant, which will be enhanced with additional functions from summer 2020 in the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series and BMW 8 Series, in the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7, and in all variants of the BMW M5 and BMW M8.

The new Active Navigation Guidance indicates lane changes that are necessary in order to continue driving along the selected route when destination guidance is active. The driver can then carry out this operation conveniently with the aid of the lane change assistant. Emergency Lane Assistant is another new function: this automatically guides the vehicle to the ideal edge of its lane in congested situations on motorways. In addition, Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function will in future include an adaptive distance control that adapts to the respective traffic situation and environmental conditions.

Further progress is also being made in the intelligent control of the Speed Limit Info system with No Passing Indicator. In all model variants of the BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, BMW 3 Series, BMW Z4, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, BMW 8 Series, BMW X5 and X5 M, BMW X6 and X6 M, BMW X7, BMW M5, and the BMW M8, road sign detection will in future additionally take into account speed limits that are restricted in time and only apply on certain days of the week. On days other, the speed limit derived from the navigation data is displayed.

Optimised smartphone integration: Android Auto can now also be used in the vehicle in addition to Apple CarPlay.

Depending on the model series, either standard or optional smartphone integration will enable use not just of Apple CarPlay but also of the digital services provided by Android Auto in numerous current BMW models as of summer 2020. This means that owners of a smartphone with the Android operating system can now access their familiar smartphone apps in the vehicle, just like users of an Apple iPhone. These include the digital voice assistant Google Assistant, the map service Google Maps, music streaming services such as Spotify and Amazon Music, and the messaging service WhatsApp.

The systems are integrated directly in the vehicle's display and control system via a wireless LAN connection between the respective smartphone and the vehicle. Here, the driver can view all the important information from the apps on the Control Display and also navigation directions in the instrument cluster and the optional Head-Up Display.

BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series with optimised Integral Active Steering.

Sporty flair and ride comfort in the BMW 7 Series luxury saloons and the luxury sports cars of the BMW 8 Series benefit from Integral Active Steering. The optional suspension system combines a variable rack and pinion ratio on the front axle with selective co-steering of the rear wheels. Even at particularly low speeds of less than 3 km/h, the rear wheels are now counter steered. This gives the models of the BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series additional manoeuvrability when moving slowly in and out of parking spaces or passing through narrow gaps.

In addition, the BMW 7 Series will be available from July 2020 in the new exterior paint finish Phytonic Blue metallic and the BMW Individual paint finish Frozen Bluestone metallic. A fresh touch of luxury ambience is added to the interior with the BMW Individual leather steering wheel as well as the new version of the BMW Individual Merino full leather trim in the colour combination Smoke White/Night Blue/Black.

Extended Business Package for the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer, new body finishes for the BMW i3 and numerous other models

The Business Package available for the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer provides enhanced comfort and driving pleasure in city traffic as well as on lengthier trips. From July 2020 onwards it also includes Real Time Traffic Information. Another new addition to the range is the body finish in Cashmere Silver metallic, which is also available for the BMW X1. The BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer will also offered in Phytonic Blue metallic and Misano Blue metallic in future.

New body finishes are available for numerous other models, too. Phytonic Blue metallic and Sunset Orange metallic versions of the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé will be on offer from July 2020. The body finish Phytonic Blue metallic will also be available for the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7 as of August 2020. What is more, the BMW X5 and BMW X6 can be fitted with the new Carbon Fibre interior trim finishers and M Carbon exterior mirror caps in conjunction with the M sports package.

The purely electrically powered models BMW i3 and BMW i3s will be available from summer 2020 in the new body finish Blue Ridge Mountain with accentuations in Frozen Grey metallic.

Meanwhile new BMW Individual body finishes are available for the model variants of the high-performance sports car BMW M8. For the BMW M8 Series Coupé and the BMW M8 Convertible, the Ametrin metallic variant is now newly available. For both models and for the BMW M8 Gran Coupé, the versions Bluestone metallic, Frozen Brands Hatch Grey metallic and Frozen Motegi Red metallic are likewise available.
