Impressions BMW Research and Innovation Center, Munich. Speech Dr. Klaus Draeger: We take special pride in the new 5 Series Sedan, ladies and gentlemen. We were able to realize exactly the design we wanted to have from the very beginning. The 5 Series is the heart of our product range. And together with the 3 Series and the 1 Series it is building an important column of our company in terms of profitability. The great cars, which include the 5 Series, are able to reach more than half of our profit contribution. You can see, how important the 5 Series is for us. All motors are optimized for efficiency and power. Of course BMW EfficientDynamics will be standard in the 5 Series. Excellent consumption values will be significant for the 520d, which will be released in the middle of 2010. It will be powered by a Turbo diesel machine, aluminium crank body. Common Rail of the third generation is of course a natural part of the motor. It has also auto-start-stop functions. At this point some more values: The consumption of gasoline of the 520d will be 5,0 liters, it will produce 132 gramm CO², all that with a motor power of 184 horse powers. Ladies and gentlemen, concerning driving characteristics I described the 5 Series as agil as a 3 Series. But concerning equipment and technology it is highclass. I would like to present 3 further world premieres within the 5 Series: it is a parking assistant, a surround view and a warning system against rear-ending combined with special break functions.
