Qualifying: Formula BMW Europe, 1- 3.8.08: Rounds 9 + 10, Budapest (HU).
Juncadella doubles up on pole. Budapest, 1st August 2008. Qualifying
for rounds 9 and 10 of Formula BMW Europe saw Daniel Juncadella
(ES/Eurointernational) come away with the two fastest laps at the
Hungaroring. Juncadella will therefore start from pole position for the
third and fourth times this season in the races on Saturday (17.30-18.00
hrs) and Sunday after similar success at Zolder. Alongside the
17-year-old Spaniard on the front row will be Marco Wittmann (DE/Josef
Kaufmann Racing). Behind the lead pair in third and fourth positions on
the grid are Esteban Gutierrez (MX/Josef Kaufmann Racing) and rookie
Facundo Regalia (ES/Eurointernational). In temperatures hitting a
sizzling 30 degrees Celsius at the Hungaroring circuit 19 kilometres
outside Budapest, Juncadella's second-fastest lap was also good enough
to earn him pole for the second race of the weekend. Juncadella will
line up ahead of Wittmann and Gutierrez once again for round 10 of the
season on Sunday (9.15-9.45 hrs). Rounds 9 + 10. Polesetter: Daniel
Juncadella (ES/Eurointernational). “Pole position is particularly useful
on this circuit, as overtaking during the race is very tricky. The
temperature during qualifying certainly made it tough out there. Coming
from Spain, I'm used to the heat, but here you also have a high level
of humidity to deal with. The sweat was really pouring down my face
while I was driving. However, I'd taken on a lot of liquid before I went
out and was feeling in good shape as a result. I'm proud of the
performance of my team Eurointernational, and it's great, of course, to
see Facundo as the leading rookie in fourth place. Rounds 9 + 10. 2nd
on the grid: Marco Wittmann (DE/Josef Kaufmann Racing). It goes without
saying that I'd always prefer to be on pole, but starting both races on
the front row isn't bad either. I managed to keep Esteban and Adrien my
closest rivals in the overall standings behind me in qualifying, and
hopefully I'll be able to do the same in the race. It's about time I
made it onto the top step of the podium. Round 9 Best rookie: Facundo
Regalia (ES/Eurointernational). For me as a rookie this is a fantastic
result. Testing here had gone well and I came to Hungary full of
confidence. I knew that it would be hot, so I did a lot of fitness work
in preparation. Two hours in the gym, plus some tennis and football has
certainly paid dividends. I've been on school summer holidays since
Hockenheim, so haven't had to combine school and racing for the last
couple of weeks. Grid positions round 9: 1. Daniel Juncadella

CO2 emission information.

Fuel consumption, CO2 emission figures and power consumption and range were measured using the methods required according to Regulation VO (EC) 2007/715 as amended. They refer to vehicles on the German automotive market. For ranges, the NEDC figures take into account differences in the selected wheel and tyre size, while the WLTP figures take into account the effects of any optional equipment.

All figures have already been calculated based on the new WLTP test cycle. NEDC figures listed have been adjusted to the NEDC measurement method where applicable. WLTP values are used as a basis for the assessment of taxes and other vehicle-related duties which are (also) based on CO2 emissions and, where applicable, for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies. Further information on the WLTP and NEDC measurement procedures is also available at www.bmw.de/wltp.

For further details of the official fuel consumption figures and official specific CO2 emissions of new cars, please refer to the “Manual on the fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and power consumption of new cars”, available at sales outlets free of charge, from Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH (DAT), Hellmuth-Hirth-Str. 1, 73760 Ostfildern-Scharnhausen and at https://www.dat.de/co2/.
