1983: The K model, an entirely new development, hits the market. The sports tourer K 100 RS, one of the most successful motorcycles of the 1980s, profits from a automotive construction technology transfer. The most notable feature is the water-cooled inline engine, installed lengthwise and lying flat, with the gearbox flanged directly to the crankcase (exhibit with close-up shot of Compact Drive).

A world tour of the new “clean cars“ follows (hydrogen engine, Clean Energy 7 Series drives into hydrogen filling station, gets filled up, fleet of 7 Series cars in Dubai). In 2004 a Clean Energy racing car achieves new speed and performance records.
