Midrand. MINI is expanding its performance John Cooper Works offering in South Africa with five versions of its Daredevil edition: the MINI John Cooper Works 3-Door Hatch Electric, MINI John Cooper Works Aceman, MINI John Cooper Works Convertible, MINI John Cooper Works 3-Door Hatch, and MINI John Cooper Works Countryman. Limited to 44 units, the edition completes the local performance portfolio across both battery-electric (BEV) and internal-combustion (ICE) powertrains.

Carmen Myles, Head of MINI, says: “The new John Cooper Works Daredevil Edition captures the racing spirit of the brand and celebrates MINI’s legacy of go-kart-like performance, racing heritage, and customisation in a way only MINI can do.

“It also marks an important milestone for the brand locally as we introduce our first all-electric high-performance MINI models alongside the South African debut of the John Cooper Works Convertible.”

Across the range, all Daredevil models are finished in Midnight Black with striking red stripes and red-and-black-chequered JCW mirror caps. The result is a track-inspired look designed to stand out on South African roads.

A true original with a Daredevil twist.

The MINI John Cooper Works 3-Door Hatch remains the purest expression of the brand’s performance DNA, distinguished by an AC Schnitzer exhaust and rear bumper diffuser, alongside a John Cooper Works Chilli Red rear spoiler extension, JCW C-pillar trim and front, side and rear JCW winglets. The look is completed by 18-inch Rallye Spoke wheels.

The 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with TwinPower Turbo technology produces 170 kW of power and 380 Nm torque, channelled to the front wheels through a seven-speed Steptronic transmission. The result is a 0-to-100 km/h acceleration in 6.1 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h, delivering the sharp, agile driving experience expected of a John Cooper Works model.

Bold edges for the Countryman.

The MINI John Cooper Works Countryman maintains its powerful offering with a versatile five-door body style, combining high output with all-wheel-drive capability. Its familiar 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with TwinPower Turbo technology delivers 233 kW and 400 Nm of maximum power and torque, respectively, through a seven-speed Steptronic transmission to enable a 0-to-100 km/h sprint in 5.4 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.

A high-gloss black JCW roof spoiler reinforces its bold appearance, while a performance-focused chassis, four-piston monoblock fixed front brakes and electric power steering support its spirited handling.

All-electric thrills.

With its compact three-door proportions, the MINI John Cooper Works Electric introduces all-electric performance to the line-up with a range of up to 400 kilometres. It produces 190 kW and 350 Nm, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 200 km/h. Fast charging up to 95kW is supported to allow for a 10 to 80% recharge in around 30 minutes. With 11 kW AC charging, charging to 100% should be completed in around five hours.

Intelligent chassis technology, ventilated disc brakes and  electric power steering contribute to its signature JCW performance, while 18-inch wheels sharpens the MINI John Cooper Works Electric’s dynamic profile.

The MINI John Cooper Works Aceman channels the brand’s hallmark pace into an all-electric five-door body style that combines compact proportions with everyday versatility. Its electric drive system delivers 190 kW and 350 Nm to the front wheels, enabling 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds and a top speed of 200 km/h.

With an all-electric range up to 380km, this model pairs efficient electric mobility with an engaging drive. DC charging capacity up to 95 kW restores the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in about 30 minutes. A model-specific chassis set-up, ventilated disc brakes and 19-inch wheels all contribute to its agile and energetic character.

These Daredevils are distinguished by a unique red-and-black multitone roof, exclusive to the two BEV derivatives, alongside red-and-black John Cooper Works mirror caps and a rear diffuser, underscoring the brand’s sporting identity. Together, they bring zero-emission driving to the range without compromising on pace, agility or style.

Open-air adrenaline.

Making its debut in South Africa, the MINI John Cooper Works Convertible is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with TwinPower Turbo technology mated to a seven-speed Steptronic transmission. It delivers 170 kW and 380 Nm to the front wheels, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 245 km/h. Combined fuel consumption is rated at 6.8 litres per 100 kilometres.

Measuring 3,879 mm in length with seating for four, it combines compact dimensions with everyday usability, including luggage capacity of up to 215 litres depending on the position of the soft top.

A single-joint strut front axle, multi-link rear axle, ventilated disc brakes and electric power steering shape a drive that captures the excitement at the heart of the brand.

Exclusive Daredevil Edition exterior details further elevate the MINI John Cooper Works Convertible, including 18-inch Rallye Spoke wheels and distinctive front and side winglets that accentuate its dynamic design.
