Midrand. BMW M Driving Experience South Africa is expanding its driver training portfolio with an off-road course featuring its locally built hero, the BMW X3. Designed to build driver confidence and practical off-road skills, the programme showcases the BMW X3’s capabilities and versatility.
Hosted at BMW xDrive Park in Midrand, Johannesburg, the half-day course has been developed to offer a balance of learning and adventure. Participants will master advanced vehicle-control techniques, while exploring the full potential of BMW’s xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive technology.
Drivers will tackle a range of obstacles and scenarios, including steep climbs and descents, cross-axle articulation challenges, side slopes, water crossing hazards, skid-control exercises and recovery techniques. Each activity is designed to strengthen practical driving ability, demonstrating the quality of BMW X3’s xDrive all-wheel drive, while Dynamic Stability Control, Hill Descent Control and other integrated driving stability systems work together with driver technique to navigate demanding terrain.
Taz Ramphisa, General Manager: Customer and Brand, BMW says, “Introducing an off-road experience for the BMW X3 at BMW xDrive Park gives customers the opportunity to explore the vehicle’s capabilities under challenging yet controlled conditions.
“This new programme forms part of the broader BMW M Driving Experience portfolio, which includes the Advanced Safety Course, M Advanced and M Drift courses. The range of advanced driver training programmes is designed with the safety of the driver at its core, to sharpen their skills and build confidence,” said Ramphisa.
The course costs R4,950.00 and accommodates 10 people per session. Participants will receive a certificate recognising their successful participation and newly acquired off-road driving skills upon completion of the programme.
Established in 2018, BMW xDrive Park is BMW South Africa’s dedicated driver training and customer experience facility, providing a purpose-built venue for vehicle control, safety training, and off-road driving. The facility holds an internationally recognised BMW M certificate, supported by accredited instructors who uphold the brand’s highest global training standards, ensuring that every programme is delivered with precision, consistency, and a strong focus on safety.
