The world premiere of the all-new BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase is one of the main highlights of the Auto Shanghai 2017 show. The new business sedan is the successor to the current front-runner in the Chinese car market’s premium segment and comes with all the right credentials for cementing this leading status. Likewise making its debut public appearance is the latest special-edition version of the BMW i8 plug-in hybrid sports car.
A new era has begun. That is the key message of the new BMW film released today through all online channels. For the first time, the film “A NEW ERA” shows all four BMW Group Vision Vehicles side by side. One year after the company’s centenary, the world’s leading premium manufacturer of automobiles and motorcycles is revisiting its “THE NEXT 100 YEARS” campaign.
Munich/Barcelona. The future of intelligent driver-car connectivity is one of the key topics the BMW Group is addressing at the Mobile World Congress 2017 event in Barcelona. The next few years will see the advent of digital services that provide total connectivity between users’ worlds – at home or out and about.
The BMW Performance Centers in the USA are the next international locations to meet the high demands that BMW M GmbH places on the driver safety offerings of the BMW and MINI Driving Experience.
As part of the BMW Group’s centenary celebrations this year – under the motto “THE NEXT 100 YEARS” – BMW South Africa has refurbished two of its classic cars, the legendary BMW M1 and South African exclusive BMW 333i (also known as the Gusheshe).

1. The BMW Group's view of the future. The BMW Group is celebrating its centenary under the motto “THE NEXT 100 YEARS”. Future orientation and adaptability have always defined the BMW Group’s identity as a company. Ever since it was founded in 1916, the BMW Group has played an important role in shaping the future of mobility.
Munich/Los Angeles. In 2016, its centenary year, the BMW Group is looking further into the future than ever before and developing a series of Vision Vehicles to address people’s mobility needs in about three decades from now. The centenary edition of the luxury sedan designed by BMW Individual, which is due to celebrate its world premiere during the anniversary year of the BMW Group, is limited to 100 units and combinable with three exceptionally fascinating drive variants, including intelligent all-wheel drive.
On 7 March 2016 – the BMW Group launched its 100th anniversary celebrations. Running under the motto THE NEXT 100 YEARS, a unique programme of centenary events is scheduled to travel the globe, a particular highlight being the BMW Festival and BMW Festival Night from 9 to 11 September 2016 in Munich which will take place at the Munich Olympic Park. Venues will include the Olympic Stadium, Olympic Hall as well as BMW Welt and the BMW Museum.
2016 is an important year for the BMW Group: The company recently celebrated its centenary. The BMW Museum in Munich is now bringing this century of company history alive in all its facets with the exhibition “100 Masterpieces. BMW Group – 100 years of innovative strength and entrepreneurial courage”.
