BMW Teams Race to Strong Results at Lime Rock Park

Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – May 27, 2014 . . . The Continental Tire Sports Car Championship headlined the racing at Lime Rock Park, in Lakeville, Conn., on May 24 with BMW teams racing to two top-five finishes in the Street Tuner class and two top-10 finishes in the Grand Sport class. In a departure from the season’s opening three rounds the results marked the first time a BMW did not finish on either class podium.

In a departure from the season’s opening three rounds the results marked the first time a BMW did not finish on either class podium.
The starting grids for each of Saturday’s 150-minute races were determined by points standings because heavy rain forced an end to Friday’s qualifying sessions. That meant three BMWs in the top-10 Street Tuner and two in the top-five Grand Sport starting positions, including the pole for GS points leaders John Edwards and Trent Hindman.
The Street Tuner race ended with the No. 56 Murillo Racing 328i of Eric Foss and Jeff Mosing finishing fourth and the No. 82 BimmerWorld Racing 328i of James Colburn and Seth Thomas fifth. Further back in the field Ted Giovanis and David Murry finished seventh in the No. 64 Team TGM 328i. The No. 81 BimmerWorld Racing 328i of Tyler Cooke and Gregory Liefooghe finished ninth after leading a BMW team high of 11 laps during the race.
In Saturday afternoon’s Grand Sport class race the top finishing BMW was the No. 46 Fall-Line Motorsports BMW M3 of John Edwards and Trent Hindman. Despite leading a race-high 81 laps their fourth place result was the first time the duo did not reach the podium this season, but they (unofficially) scored enough points to keep the lead in the championship. Usual ST class participants and 2013 class champions Terry Borcheller and Mike LaMarra moved to GS for Lime Rock Park and despite starting 25th in the 28-car class because they had no points finished a very strong ninth in their No. 48 BMW M3.
Round 5 of the 2014 CTSCC will be held at the Kansas Speedway, in Kansas City, KS, on June 7th.
