Student Driving Clinic Part of X3 Ultimate Driving Experience
Woodcliff Lake, NJ - February 9, 2004 ... Automotive enthusiasts will have the
opportunity to test - and improve their driving skills when BMW rolls out its
national Ultimate Driving Experience clinics in a coast-to-coast campaign. The
X3 Ultimate Driving Experience (UDE), which features the versatility of a
Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), is a comprehensive driving program which allows
drivers to experience the performance and handling of a vehicle while teaching
participants of all levels to become safer, more confident drivers. BMW
believes that hands-on training is the best way for consumers to experience
BMW's handling, performance and precision.

The X3 UDE includes an Autocross program for the drivers who want to enhance
their driving skills. This program is designed to increase a driver's
knowledge and appreciation of the vehicle's mechanics such as xDrive, BMW's new
all-wheel drive system. Participants are also invited to test-drive a fleet of
new BMWs as part of the Ultimate Drive For The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer
Foundation. For each mile driven as part of the Ultimate Drive program, BMW
contributes $1 to help find a cure for breast cancer.

"We are excited to offer this unique program across America and provide
hands-on driving and instruction in a fun, safe and controlled environment,"
said Jim McDowell, Vice President Marketing, BMW of North America, LLC. "Time
spent behind the wheel is the best place for any driver to learn about the
vehicle. This program teaches the necessary skills that insure proper
decision-making behind the wheel. "

A key component to X3 UDE is the student-driving program. Unlike most
programs, which are classroom-based, the BMW Student Driver Program is fully
interactive. The program uses professional drivers and an aggressive track to
target teen drivers, the age group with the highest crash risk year after
year. It will be offered by BMW across the country through November 2004.
Participants increase their driving knowledge through "seat-time," where they
encounter emergency scenarios that simulate real-life situations, thus
providing hands-on training they wouldn't otherwise have access to. BMW is
using new X3's for the clinics because of the vehicle's proven agility and
performance.

The half-day, free BMW course for student drivers includes instruction on:

* Target Fixation - Our professional staff trains participants to look at where
they want to go rather than at the object they are trying to avoid (which is
very common). They offer strategies for getting around the object.

* Car Control - Drivers will learn the mechanics behind what causes people to
lose control of a vehicle and how to regain control.

* Situational Awareness - This component trains teens to be aware of what's
going on around them at all times. Heavy emphasis is placed on the importance
of peripheral vision and scanning the road ahead- looking beyond the car
directly in front of you to avoid the danger of tunnel vision. Participants
are trained to concentrate and process information that will enable them to
avoid dangerous situations.

* Slalom - Maneuvering the car through a series of tight corners and roads,
drivers will learn the importance of smoothness and flow in the process of
managing the load transfer of the vehicle.

The X3 vehicles have the all-new xDrive technology, which sets new standards in
agility for all-wheel-drive vehicles. The system immediately recognizes any
need for a change of power distribution and responds immediately when driving
on the open road.

The Ultimate Driving Experience is a comprehensive driving course that teaches
drivers of all levels to feel more confident, comfortable and in-control on the
roads. The X3 UDE program will travel cross-country through 16 cities from
