THE 2000 BMW 323Ci CONVERTIBLE: CLASSIC LINES, COMPELLING PERFORMANCE, CONSUMMATE VALUE

Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, April 19, 2000... There is something magical about
a convertible. Continuing an 80-year BMW tradition, the all-new BMW 323Ci
convertible is no exception; it truly is a celebration of the special feeling
that is open-air driving.

The third version of a 3 Series convertible sold in America, the 323Ci
represents a dramatic improvement in every respect over its extremely popular
predecessor. From its striking, fresh design, increased interior and trunk
space to its more convenience and luxury features and better performance, the
latest four-seat BMW drop-top creates new convertible standards for the new
century. However, with a manufacturer's suggested retail base price under
$35,000, it is priced significantly lower than the outgoing 323i convertible on
a comparably equipped basis and lower than its primary competitors.

Attention to design detail is evident throughout the car. Striking features
include the sleek, low profile, unencumbered by tall rear quarter panels as on
many competitive convertibles. The aggressive "face" incorporates the
trademark 3 Series headlight scallops, bullet-style foglights and wide fender
arches. Other notable details are the aerodynamic ridge at the bottom of the
sideview mirrors, the optional elegant aluminum hardtop, the body-color side
rub molding, chrome vertical grille slats, twin-spoke or star-spoke alloy
wheels and L-shaped taillights.

The cockpit is roomier, 10% larger than that of its predecessor, and more
elegant. High-quality upholstery (supple leatherette is standard, with rich
Montana leather an available option) is accented by high-gloss or optional
Myrtle wood trim that wraps around the dashboard and doors, making a luxurious
environment for the driver and passengers. A new, three-spoke, leather-wrapped
multi-function steering wheel includes fingertip controls for the audio system,
cruise control and optional telephone. Providing more evidence of design
attention-to-detail, the finish of the lightweight magnesium cover, which
conceals the lowered convertible top, perfectly matches the interior.
