Spring Starts Here – March 18-20, 2016 Woodcliff Lake, NJ – March 17, 2016…BMW Motorrad USA kicks off the 2016 riding season this weekend with a national marketing campaign encompassing cable, digital and social media advertising; national email promotions; direct mail; and dealer events around the country.
With victories in the categories “Sports Bikes”, “Touring/Sport Touring Bikes”, “Enduros/Supermotos”, “Crossovers” and “Modern Classics” as well as two second and three third places, BMW Motorrad achieved its best result so far in the MOTORRAD magazine’s 18th “Motorcycle of the Year 2016” readers’ vote in which 208 motorcycle models lined up for selection.
With 11,088 units delivered, BMW Motorrad has achieved record sales for the ninth time in a row as per September 2015. As compared to the already strong equivalent month in the previous year (9,991 units), 11.0 % more motorcycles and maxi scooters were supplied to customers. As of September, worldwide sales likewise reached a new all-time high of 112,411 units sold, and an increase of 12.2 (prev. yr.: 100,217 units).
For the fifth month in succession, BMW Motorrad remains on a stable course for growth. In May 2015, 15,004 vehicles (prev. yr.: 14,088 units) motorcycles and maxi scooters were supplied to customers worldwide. This represents an increase in sales of 6.5 % as compared to May 2014.
German premium carmaker BMW is taking to the stage at the 2014 Paris Motor Show with the latest results of its ongoing model push, revealing even more ways to experience the brand’s hallmark driving pleasure. Europe’s most important car show of the year, which opens to the public from 4 – 19 October 2014, will host the world premieres of two new models: the BMW 2 Series Convertible and the new BMW X6.
BMW Motorrad has achieved an all-time annual sales high for the third time in succession. Worldwide the company supplied 115,215 (prev. yr.: 106,358 units) motorcycles and maxi scooters - an increase of 8.3 % as compared to the previous record year 2012. 6,343 vehicles were sold in December. This represents an increase of 4.5% as compared to the equivalent month of the previous year.
From January 2013 to July inclusive, BMW Motorrad delivered a total of 76,182 (prev. yr: 69,329 units) motorcycles and maxi-scooters to customers, 9.9 % more than in the previous year. Of these, 11,241 (prev. yr: 10,140 units) vehicles were delivered in the month of July, a rise of 10.9% and the best result ever recorded in a July month. The undisputed sales winner was the new, water-cooled R 1200 GS, with 17.296 units sold.

Stephan Schaller, President of BMW Motorrad, was appointed the new president of the ACEM (Association des Constructeurs Européens de Motocycles), the European Motorcycle Industry Association on March 21st 2013. Based in Brussels, ACEM is the organisation representing the manufacturers of motorcycles, scooters, trikes and quads on a European level.
