“We were the first to crack the 10-minute mark in this electronic car. 09:51 - that’s quite a benchmark. It’ll be interesting to see who comes along to try and beat that. It was absolutely amazing for me. The cars run beautifully. Great torque, speed is superb too, including top speed, going down Fuchsröhre at 200 km/h. It really was a great feeling and there’s no sound. You hear virtually nothing. All you hear is tyre noise, the brakes of course, and you hear the suspension and shock absorbers a bit, but otherwise it’s silent. It takes some getting used to. And it alters your sense of speed completely. But the car has great handling, superb power right through to the end. And it was a great lap time. Really was fun.”

“We took out everything we didn’t need for driving - everything to do with comfort, the entire interior - as you can see - is naked metal. Everything that saves weight was replaced or removed. Even the instrument panel is made of carbon fibre, just like all other body parts including the roof. And we got to work on the chassis of course. We took the brakes from the Challenge series, the wheels, tyres and rims. As you can see we have slicks on here. We managed this time here today with rain tyres on a wet surface of course - on a dry road we could definitely do better.” “Today we have the 21th April 2010. This is a very important day for BMW, because we are the first OEM with a battery electric vehicle race car on a real racetrack in racing conditions at the Nordschleife here in Nürburg. The time is below ten minutes. Every time below ten minutes is a good time for race cars, for real race cars. And we did it with a battery electric vehicle race car and this is a very big success for us. “
