In order to be tested to receive 5 Stars in Euro NCAP's safety evaluation, the vehicle must be put through 4 total vehicle crash tests, plus active safety tests on the track as well as component tests. This side (barrier) test demonstrates the top performance of the iX as well as presenting BMW's first production implementation of a center airbag to further limit interaction on the far side of the vehicle.

Several, now pastel colored monoliths are part of the set-design, mixed with floral attributes in Ikebana-like-fashion.
