?How does BMW support HIV-infected people? !”From the medical station side: we are there for the support of the patient living with HIV/ AIDS. From the company perspective we have a programme in place that we hope to action very soon in terms of developing a culture of trust, supporting those living with HIV and focussing on prevention programmes. Not only preventing new infection, but those who are already infected keeping them well and productive for a long time and to support, nurture and link up with the social environment and to maintain that.”!?At which age AIDS education should start? !“The education in the Early Learning Centre is critical, this is the focus, every local government is looking at the moment. Developing a child with a sense of values and a sense of self worth…is a kind of approach we want to install in young children. We want to offer sports…give literacy programme…We also need to focus on the group under 10. In youth aged 15-19 years coming to a clinic, 42% are already HIV positive. So the programmes in High Schools have not been effective. So we need to re-focus on a much Younger child. So we have an opportunity at BMW to focus on young children.”!

?What do you think of the BMW AIDS policy? !“BMW is a very important company in SA, one of the largest employers. We expect of BMW that it continues to play its role, from the business pov and also from a good citizenship pov. We believe that workplaces are the battle areas where to achieve much success in the fight against AIDS. So if BMW does the job that it does in the workplace and the management of people, and focuses on the HIV/ AIDS problem it will be making a huge contribution…We need companies to help us to develop human resources but as also in the fight against HIV/ AIDS.”!
