In 1966 the BMW 2000 TI breaks the 10-minute record on the notorious a ”Nordschleife” stretch of the Nürburgring racetrack.

1973: The large touring car, the 3.0 CSL Coupé in the colors of the newly-founded BMW Motorsport GmbH, dominates the international motorsports scene during the 1970s (lineup at start and race scenes).

1970s: Six-time European champion in Formula 2, the BMW March (start lineup and racing scenes at the Nürburgring).

1975 – 1980: The first models in the new BMW 3 Series (travel shots).

1976: The world´s first production machine fitted as standard with all-round wind and weather fairing.

1979 – 1980: The high-performance sports coupe M1 is the attraction at Formula 1. M1 sportcars was presented in the unique Procar Series supplementing Formula 1 races 1 (racing scenes Monaco).

1983: BMW celebrates the greatest sports success in its history when it wins the title in Formula 1. Brazilian Nelson Piquet takes the Brabham-BMW to victory in the world championship (close-up of Piquet giving the sign to start the engine, plus race scenes from 1982 in Monaco).

1983: The K model, an entirely new development, hits the market. The sports tourer K 100 RS, one of the most successful motorcycles of the 1980s, profits from a automotive construction technology transfer. The most notable feature is the water-cooled inline engine, installed lengthwise and lying flat, with the gearbox flanged directly to the crankcase (exhibit with close-up shot of Compact Drive).

1986 marks the first successes of the BMW M3, the most successful touring car in the world of motorsport (pitstop scene with M3 and race shots).

In 1987 a “think thank“ which a unique of its kind anywhere in the world is built in Munich: The Research and Innovation Center FIZ, at that time the Research and Engineering Center (outdoor shots, flight over FIZ, scenes from design department and development).

1992: The foundation stone is laid for the new BMW plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina (spade ceremony with Eberhard von Kuenheim BMW and Governor Carroll Ashmore Campbell jr., workforce, helicopter flight over the plant).

2000/2004: As an official EXPO project, BMW presents Clean Energy, series-ready combustion engines that use liquid hydrogen as an energy carrier. A world tour of the new “clean cars“ follows (hydrogen engine, Clean Energy 7 Series drives into hydrogen filling station, gets filled up, fleet of 7 Series cars in Dubai). In 2004 a Clean Energy racing car achieves new speed and performance records.
