Knockhill - Rounds 17 & 18 - 2/3 September 2006 - Qualifying.

Turvey scores another double at Knockhill

Knockhill, 2 September, 2006. Oliver Turvey (Team Loctite) took his second
double pole position of the year on a rain-swept Scottish track, with Henry
Arundel (Fortec Motorsport) continuing his Rookie Cup challenge in perfect
style, claiming quickest Rookie lap for both Round 17 and 18 of the Formula BMW
UK Championship 2006.

Despite rain pouring for most of the day, the weather did nothing to dampen the
spirits of Turvey, who, after pushing hard in both sessions, came away with a
huge smile and two front row starts.

"It's been a great day but I got a bit too enthusiastic at the start of the
second session and clipped the tyres in the chicane. Luckily, I seemed to go
quicker despite the slash in my front tyre," Turvey enthused. "Now I just need
to covert the poles into wins."

Euan Hankey (Fortec Motorsport) converted the disappointment of ending in the
gravel in the first session nearly to claim pole in the second. He commented:
"It's good to be on the front row for Round 18 but I had to change my nose cone
three minutes from the end as someone had made contact with me, so I'm
frustrated not to have had the chance to go quicker."
Niall Breen (Fortec Motorsport) keeps the title in his sights, securing second
and third places on the grid for tomorrow's races, most importantly ahead of
his Championship rival, Ross Curnow (Nexa Racing), who will start from seventh
and tenth.

Arundel continued to excel in his pursuit of the Rookie title, finishing fourth
and fifth quickest overall. "The car was great and I've really taken to driving
in the wet," Arundel explained. "It's too soon to think about the title as it's
very close in the table but I'm hoping some good results tomorrow will help!"

Arundel spearheaded a great performance from the Rookies, with four novices
amongst the top nine starters for both of tomorrow's races. Due to season-best
qualifying performances from Daniel Murray (Filsell Motorsport) and Greg
Mansell (Mansell Motorsport), who will start from sixth and seventh for Round
18, Arundel will also have the luxury of some breathing space between him and
his title rivals, Niall Quinn (Carlin Motorpsort) and Kimiya Sato (Rowan Motor
Racing Ltd) in tomorrow's first race.

CO2-Emissionen & Verbrauch.
