Animation: Higher injection pressure means finer atomisation which increases the surface of the fuel; in addition the new combustion chamber geometry ensures that the air and fuel are perfectly mixed.The exhaust gas flow drives two turbochargers which are electronically regulated via a control flap.At low engine speed the low inertia torque at the small turbocharger means that the boost pressure is built up very fast, with this the engine delivers an instant high torque respond.In the medium engine speed range, as the control flap is open more and more, the large turbine takes over the task of building up the boost pressure.At higher engine speeds the control flap is fully opened, now the large supercharger is completely in charge Driven by the exhaust gases the turbine on the hot side compress the aspirated air on the cold side of the engine, which makes more oxygen available during combustion.Even at low engine speeds thanks to its low inertial torque the small turbine builds up a higher boost pressure extremely fastAs medium engine speed are reached, the compressor bypass opens, the large turbocharger feeds the compressed air directly into the combustion chamber
