Dr. Norbert Reithofer: Last year, the X1 made a significant contribution to the more than 1.46 million cars sold by our three brands – BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce. This figure means that we continue to be the world’s leading premium manufacturer in terms of sales. In the first two months of this year, we have delivered over 210,000 vehicles – the best start to the year our company has ever had. 1. We continue to develop Efficient Dynamics further. 2. We always offer our customers innovative solutions. Dr. Klaus Draeger: Today we are introducing one of our latest Efficient Dynamics highlights. It is a new engine – the engine that will power the BMW X1 from spring 2011 on. Engine development is one of our core competencies. Our company is called Bayerische Motoren Werke – for good reason. The latest 6-cylinder engine is fitted with our state-of-the-art BMW TwinPower Turbo technology package. This drive train has earned us the Engine of the Year Award 2010. Now we have transferred this technology to the new 4-cylinder engine. Thanks to the BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, this engine is both powerful and fuel-efficient. Our second test vehicle for E-mobility is the BMW Active E. The first batch of these vehicles will be handed over to the Federal Ministry of the Environment and customers in Germany in summer 2011. All test kilometers driven will give us valuable input for our first all-electric series vehicle – the BMW i3. Another major trend is networking. We call it BMW ConnectedDrive. So let’s show you our vision of integrated driving. World Premiere BMW Vision ConnectedDrive. Dr. Norbert Reithofer: We want this car to bridge the gap between today and tomorrow – and to demonstrate what can be achieved with intelligent networking. Connected Drive is our second key area of innovation, besides Efficient Dynamics. Dr. Klaus Draeger: Today, the BMW Connected Drive portfolio comprises more than 50 innovative functions: The idea is that your smartphone will automatically link to the vehicle as soon as you enter. In future, the car will even synchronize with your calendar. Our idea of infotainment is customized information. Next, we will step up car-to-car communication – which will once again improve safety. Dr. Norbert Reithofer: Today, every BMW model on offer is available with Connected Drive as well. And we plan to stay this course. Putting innovations to the road – this is our job. And our motivation. And that’s what customers appreciate about the BMW brand. From now on, it is not only sheer driving pleasure but sheer connected driving pleasure.

This MINI Cooper comes with the most powerful diesel engine yet offered in the MINI Family, the SD. The new MINI Cooper SD tops out at 215 kilometres per hour. And it clocks 0-100 kilometres per hour in just over 8 seconds. But don’t let all this performance fool you- the MINI Cooper SD won’t be waiting in line at the petrol pump very often. It consumes only 4.3 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres, with CO2 emissions of just 114 grams per kilometre. And, of course, a whole set of MINIMALISM technology comes as standard. The SD engine will be available in all Coopers across Europe starting this spring. Now, ladies and gentlemen, I’m absolutely thrilled to show you this vehicle. It’s rocket science by MINI. Here it is, our newest concept, the MINI Rocketman World Premiere Mini Rocketman Concept. As we all know, cities are continually growing and that means at least a couple things for MINI Fans: room to manoeuvre is shrinking and the environment needs protecting. At 3.4 metres, the Rocketman is just slightly bigger than the original MINI. But on the inside, it’s spacious and full of innovations. As we say at MINI, “It’s bigger inside than outside.” This is a true MINI, in concentrated form.
