External feedback, especially from racing drivers, is very important. It's good to get positive feedback and to know that it can cut it on the racetrack. It's impressive to drive with a DTM driver in convoy, because he feels precisely how the car can be driven and is able to describe it very well.

Various settings from a tripod: Franciscus van Meel in profile, car in the background: - For me personally it's very important to have a second opinion because if you are working on the cars for years, developing them, testing them on Nürburgring and other racetracks and putting really a lot of effort in it, you get kind of a single-minded view of the car. You're a unity with this car, and to have a second opinion from the outside, from professional racedrivers, is really important, sometimes mind-opening. And in this case it was a good reflection on what the R&D people did and also a positive feedback that what they did was exactly right to be very fast on the racetrack. - For the DTM Drivers it was a big step because they come from the very light racecars to an SUV and of course their first idea was : Let's figure out if we can move these vehicles very fast on the track. They were not shure when they startedbut when they got into the car and drove on the track. They were really enthusiastic about the way the car behaved, the way the car handles, how easy it is to be very very fast with these cars on the racetrack. They have a very good feel for the vehicle dynamics and the way the vehicles can be moved and it is just fun to watch them drive and even more fun to drive with them.

The car in its entirety conveys to the customer the typical M driving style and makes it an SAC class vehicle that you can experience as an M car. - Getting the feedback that the car loses its size when you drive it was naturally one of our aims as developers. Joey Hand's comment, "the engine pushes', characterises exactly what we wanted to do, that is to convey the de-throttling of the engine in respect of the increase in torque and power output as a driving experience. We knew from the development stage on the Nürburgring that we were already relatively quick, but to be able to have the car driven here on the Formula 1 circuit by the DTM drivers and to see how much they enjoyed it was simply confirmation that our development work can't in the end have been that bad at all.

Various settings from a tripod: Walter Haupt in profile, car in the background: - One of the most important things for me was that in this environment it was not possible to bring the car to a hot mode. - The car itself, from the cooling system, from the breaks, it's on the same way like the engine and the performance of the car can be used, so we have a good balance of all the car's components : Gearbox, Engine, Drivetrain, Breaks, Suspension and so on. And that for me is an important thing as well, to have a Balance. The Sum of all the components should be better than all the single components. - One of the main feedbacks I remember was Joey Hand, who told us that the way the engine pushes is unbelieveable. Other points were that the break is amazing, The Gearbox shifts very exactly, the agility of the engine and the whole car is amazing. You can drive this car also in a really sporty mode here on the racetrack. - It made me proud to see the drivers smile after really enjoying the performance and the easy Handling of the car here on the Circuit of the Americas. It showed us the car is exactly the way we expected it to be.
