Auckland, New Zealand:  BMW M Town, the city where enthusiasts can fully immerse themselves in the high-performance BMW M brand, returned to New Zealand with a bang today at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park.

M Town is a global phenomenon – a city built especially for BMW M cars and enthusiasts. It is the city where nothing is off limits and too much is just right. In addition to New Zealand, M Town has made star appearances in Germany, Australia and South Africa to name just a few.

Its first iteration in New Zealand, the world’s number one market for the share of BMW M sales in the overall BMW sales mix, featured an exhilarating ice driving experience near Queenstown.

New Zealand’s latest BMW M Town was headlined by the appearance of the BMW M3 Sedan and BMW M4 Coupé. Available exclusively in New Zealand as Competition variants, both cars are powered by a six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology that produces 375kW of power and 650Nm of torque.

Imbued with motorsport-derived DNA, both cars deliver outstanding performance with a zero to 100km/h time of just 3.9 seconds.

Fans were given the chance to pilot these icons around the world class Hampton Downs Motorsport Park alongside other exhilarating machinery from BMW M including the M8 Competition Coupé and X5 M Competition.

The drive day also included other driving exercises, featuring BMW M models that capably walk the line between everyday usability and both on- and off-road potency: the BMW X2 M35i, X3 M40i and X7 M50i.

Participants put the BMW M models through their paces, both on and off the track, with highly skilled BMW instructors guiding them through bespoke driving exercises. The activities both pushed the limits of the BMW M models and sharpened driving skills.

Karol Abrasowicz-Madej, Managing Director of BMW New Zealand, commented:

“Too much is just right at M Town, and this year we took it to new heights. We were delighted to see 260 participants take part in New Zealand’s first-ever tarmac M Town to enjoy a spectacular range of BMW M cars, all this week, the concept of sheer driving pleasure will be truly brought to the fore.”

CO2 emission information.

Fuel consumption, CO2 emission figures and power consumption and range were measured using the methods required according to Regulation VO (EC) 2007/715 as amended. They refer to vehicles on the German automotive market. For ranges, the NEDC figures take into account differences in the selected wheel and tyre size, while the WLTP figures take into account the effects of any optional equipment.

All figures have already been calculated based on the new WLTP test cycle. NEDC figures listed have been adjusted to the NEDC measurement method where applicable. WLTP values are used as a basis for the assessment of taxes and other vehicle-related duties which are (also) based on CO2 emissions and, where applicable, for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies.
