Boyke Boyer - Head of exterior design BMW. Now we're more or less through and we're near the end, as we can see. We now have a clear line and the next step is how to get the ideas we have in this design on to the road one day. I'm really looking forward to it - I really want to drive this car. You know, standing in front of the car and ... or let me put it differently: I open my garage in the morning and I see this great thing in front of me. That's really a wonderful experience every morning, saying: "Hey, come on out, let's go!". That's difficult to say - what's it like in your mind? It's just the feeling that we are creating a car beyond comparison, since we're following our very own concept. It isn't a Ferrari, it isn't a Porsche, and it doesn't look like any of those saloon coupes. It's simply different, but somehow it's also that traditional BMW. So we don't think we might be getting something wrong, since we're always proceeding from existing, specific standards. After all, it's our own tradition we're taking up once again. Of course - all the way to the end, when we've all reached the deadline and the engineers say: "Right, and now you've got to give us the facts, because there's no more we can do. " Up to that point we just keep on doing our thing, fine-tuning everything to the last detail. There are technical factors we have to respond to and there's also the question of taste: You know, what I liked half a year ago maybe isn't that good any more. So I have to say: "Come on, give me two more days, I've still got another solution ... " And then the engineers come along and say: "Okay, if you deliver the goods tomorrow we can still do it. " Then we just wiggle round a bit to the last minute, until the final point comes and that's it!.
