Bali.  BMW Indonesia unveiled today the new Sports Activity Vehicle BMW X5 to the media at Hotel Alila Uluwatu, Bali.  After its success in introducing BMW Advanced Diesel for its new BMW X1, the new BMW X5 is also available with diesel in addition to its gasoline engine.  Three models – BMW X5 xDrive50i,  X5 xDrive35i Executive and X5 xDrive30d – are now available for customers at all BMW authorized dealerships.

“The BMW X5 is a very versatile and dynamic Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) that has gained in popularity since the launch in Indonesia in 2001.  BMW X5 leads the trend of premium SAV in the world as well as in Indonesia.  We have delivered a total of 879 units of the X5 since its introduction, “said Ramesh Divyanathan, President Director of BMW Indonesia.

“Now the new BMW X5 comes with selective design modifications to enhance its sporting characteristics, new 8 speed Steptronic automatic transmissions and a completely new engine portfolio, combining the highest level of sheer driving pleasure and fuel efficiency.  The new model will strengthen BMW's position as the leader in the premium SAV segment in Indonesia.”

The new BMW X5 has larger side air intakes at the front and an increased proportion of surfaces painted in body color within the front and rear end aprons.  The overall athletic character is also enhanced with the reshaped rear bumper and the tailpipe surrounds.   The corona rings in the new BMW X5 comes with LED daytime running lights and bi-xenon dual headlights that make the car easily recognizable.  The L-shaped, redesigned taillights feature illuminated LED light horizontal graphics.

The interior of the new BMW X5 is characterized by a generous amount of space, and a modern, sophisticated design.  Comfortable seats, high-grade materials and carefully matched color combinations accentuate the premium character of this modern SAV.    All models are equipped with panoramic glass roof.  A rear view camera with top view is equipped as standard feature for BMW X5 xDrive50i.

BMW X5 models cater to up to 5 occupants, except the BMW xDrive50i that features a third-row seat to give a flexibility to accommodate up to 7 persons.

All models of the new BMW X5 are equipped with an eight-speed Streptonic automatic transmission as standard, further enhancing its road performance and efficiency.
The top model, BMW X5 xDrive50i, is equipped with Adaptive Drive to minimize body roll and to enhance the driving comfort.

The BMW X5 xDrive50i comes with V8 4.4-liter engine featuring BMW TwinPower Turbo and High Precision Injection, capable of producing 407 hp at 5,500 rpm and maximum torque of 600 Nm at 1,750 rpm.  The BMW X5 xDrive50i accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds.  Average fuel consumption is 12.5 l/100 km.  The CO2 emission level is 292 g/km.

The second petrol engine variant is the new BMW X5 xDrive35i Executive features the first straight six-cylinder 3-liter engine to combine BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, High Precision Injection and Valvetronic.  It delivers 306 hp at 5,800 rpm with a maximum torque of 400 Nm at 1,200 rpm. It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds. The average fuel consumption is 10.1 l/100 km and a CO2 emission level of 236 g/km.

The new BMW X5 xDrive30d also features 3-liter straight six-cylinder engine with all-aluminium construction, the latest Common Rail direction technology with piezo injectors and a turbocharger .  The engine generates its maximum output of 245 hp at 4,000 rpm, producing its maximum torque of 540 Nm at 1.750  rpm. The new BMW X5 xDrive30d accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds.  The fuel consumption is 7.4 l/100 km with a CO2 emission level of 195 g/km.

BMW EfficientDynamics technologies that come as standard in all the models are Brake Energy Regeneration, intelligent lightweight construction, tire with reduced rolling resistance and optimized aerodynamics.

Permanent four-wheel drive with electronically-controlled variable torque distribution between front and rear axles not only gives the new BMW X5 supreme traction on off-road terrain, but also superior driving dynamics on tarmac.

The intelligent four-wheel drive system uses a transfer box with an electronically controlled multi-disc clutch to constantly feed power as required to the axle that has the best contact with the road surface.  As a result, xDrive also enhances driving stability when taking bends at higher speeds as it anticipates any tendency to oversteer or understeer and counteracts these forces effectively.

In normal driving situations, BMW xDrive distributes drive forces to the front and rear axles in a 40:60 split.  Sensors constantly monitor slip on all wheels.  Within a fraction of a second, the system is able to vary the power distribution ratio.

The new BMW X5 comes with best entertainment system in its class.  BMW X5 xDrive50i is equipped with HiFi system Professional with 16 loudspeakers and high-end surround mode 600 W amplifier, on board monitor with TV and 8-inch color display, rear seat entertainment with DVD player and 8-inch foldable monitor and USB Audio and Bluetooth interface.
