BMW Indonesia extends scholarship to Paramadina University post-graduates.

Jakarta.   Three outstanding post-graduate students from the School of Communications and School of Business of Paramadina University have been selected for BMW Indonesia Research and Technology Scholarships.  The scholarships were handed over to Dyah Sulistyorini and Mohamad Nurfahmi Budiarto, both journalists, and Muhammad Makmun in a ceremony held at the post-graduate campus at the Energy Building.

 

Paramadina is the second university after the University of Indonesia to enter into cooperation for the BMW Indonesia Research and Technology Scholarship, founded in August 2011.  The cooperation agreement was earlier signed by Mr. Ramesh Divyanathan, President Director of BMW Indonesia, and Mr. Anies Baswedan PhD, the Rector of the university.

 

“Strengthening the local talent pool is one of the pillars of Indonesia’s Economic Masterplan announced by the government earlier this year.  As the world’s largest premium car company for the last 6 years, BMW knows what it takes to keep the company in the lead – a premium talent pool of high performing employees," said Mr. Divyanathan in his speech. 

 

Divyanathan also said "Through this scholarship program, we offer our contribution in nurturing the talents of Indonesian young leaders who are not only equipped to excel domestically but also have the confidence and the necessary skills to face global challenges. It is with pride that today we are extending our scholarship program by establishing a cooperation with Paramadina, one of the most renowned higher education institutions in the country.”

 

“Paramadina strives to produce graduates who are not only adept at meeting the challenges posed by the professional world but who also has strong concern on society empowerment. With the support and trust of BMW and others with wholehearted support for this idealism, Paramadina University’s civitas academia feels more enthusiastic and optimistic in welcoming the future." said Mr. Baswedan, Rector of Universitas Paramadina in his speech.

Believes that through education Indonesian people could reach better position socially and economically, Universitas Paramadina with the support of donors since 2008 has granted full undergraduate program scholarships for 223 high school students selected from all around Indonesia and Paramadina Social Responsibility for potential young people who life around Paramadina campus. For graduate program Paramadina initiates scholarships for Journalist and NGO's Activist, the educators for society, as well as future business leaders. 

 

The BMW Indonesia Research and Technology Scholarship offers full scholarships for qualified, high-achieving post-graduate students form various areas of study, such as engineering, science, business, finance, law and communications, from top universities in Indonesia.  Besides financial support, BMW Indonesia also provides the opportunity for the scholars to participate in programs such as internships, mentoring, networking and workshops.  These allow them to have first-hand experience in learning the culture and philosophy of a world-class multinational corporation.  It also will help scholars in integrating into corporate society, helping them to realize their goals and development direction, and also gradually adjust their mindset and gain self-confidence in becoming future leaders of this country.

 

BMW Group has consistently strived to become a contributing member of Indonesian society since its establishment in Indonesia in 2001, with a number of communal outreach activities centering on the development of local talent.  BMW Indonesia last year announced its support for the Indonesia Street Children Organization through 2014.  BMW Indonesia also has supported with Kelas Super with Prof Yohanes Surya, with the establishment of the Mobile Learning Center which remains in operation, and the Tsunami Education Park in Aceh.
