The Indonesian assembled all-new BMW X5 Advanced Dieselis ready to lead.

Jakarta. Today, BMW Group Indonesia proudly rolled out the locally assembledthird generation of the BMWX5with the latestengine variant, the all-new BMW X5 Advanced Diesel. This pioneer in the Sports Activity Vehicle segment and global market leader in its class sets new benchmarks in driving pleasure, comfort, powerful design, luxurious spaciousness, innovative technology and, above all, fuel efficiency. All these outstanding elements were on show at BMW Production Network 2, PT. Gaya Motor, which is a unit of the BMW Group’s long-standing partner in Indonesia, PT Astra International Tbk.

Mr. Bernhard Kuhnt, Senior Vice President of Importer Regions Africa, Caribbean, Eastern Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East, BMW AG, Mr. Axel Pannes, Managing Director of BMW Group Asia, Mrs. Karen Lim, President Director of BMW Group Indonesia, as well as the management of BMW Group Indonesia and PT Astra International Tbk all witnessed the roll-out of the new vehicle.

The locally assembled all-new BMW X5 xDrive25d is now ready to offer Indonesian customers an assured all-round package equipped to meet the most exacting and varied demands of on-road and off-road driving pleasure.

“BMW Group Indonesia has ramped up its production activities in Indonesia since 2011, and invested more than IDR 150 billion in assembling more BMW models in the country. To prove BMW’s long standing commitment to Indonesia’s consumers, today we added the locally assembled all-new BMW X5 Advanced Diesel to our stable. This is a tremendous achievement for us and demonstrates our leadership in providing premium cars in Indonesia,” said Mrs. Karen Lim, President Director of BMW Group Indonesia.“Since its first introduction last year, the all-new BMW X5 has received a very positive response from Indonesia consumers, and we are sure that this will also be the case for the locally assembled all-new BMW X5 with the new engine variant - Advanced Diesel,” added Karen.

“We are also delighted with our partnership with Gaya Motor, as the plant applies high standards in terms of processes, quality control and safety requirements. This guarantees that all locally-assembled BMW models meet the stringent standards for quality premium cars as well as the expectations of our customers in Indonesia,” Karen commented in regard to the BMW assembly process in Indonesia.

“We have now scaled up our production rate to 10 units per day for the all-new BMW X5 Advanced Diesel assembled in the plant. The production launch of the all-new BMW X5 has been supported by assembly experts from our German plants. They have provided training on assembly processes and quality requirements for approximately 1 month. The smooth interaction with our German experts has been the key to our successful launch, but in addition, Gaya Motor’s employees have been very capable in understanding and implementing our high production standards. We are very pleased with the overall results. The Gaya Motor plant has consistently met BMW‟s worldwide high standards for production and quality,” said Mr. Albert Reichl, BMW Production Network 2 Management Production Partner Indonesia.

The all-new BMW X5 Advanced Diesel: a fresh dimension in driving pleasure and efficiency.

The addition of the Advanced Diesel engine model variant to the BMW X5 line-up is set to extend the Sports Activity Vehicle’s lead over its rivals in terms of fuel efficiency. The all-new BMW X5 Advanced Diesel will be available with a 2.0-litre BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder diesel engine. The engine powering the all-new BMW X5 xDrive25d comprises a turbocharger with variable geometry and common rail direct injection to produce maximum output of 218 hp and is linked to the 8-speed Steptronic gearbox.

The hallmark driving pleasure, eye-catching design, luxurious ambience and outstanding variability of the SAV is made more enjoyable because of the vehicle’s impressively low fuel consumption and emissions. Its average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle stands at 17,2 km/liters with CO² emissions of 154 g/km.

The all-new BMW X5Advanced Diesel-the best in aerodynamic design: an elegant blend of robust presence and dynamic flair.

Signature BMW design features combine with undeniable presence, robustness and versatility to lend BMW X models their distinctive appearance. The particularly muscular design of the BMW kidney grille, set within the triangle of the twin circular headlights and lamps, and the bumper’s X-shaped contour lines mark this vehicle out as a member of the BMW X model family.

The all-new BMW X5 has an extremely broad-set kidney grille extending all the way to the headlight units, and the hallmark BMW twin circular headlights with Xenon technology, in turn, stretch well into the car’s side panels. Their light rings are each levelled off at the bottom and overlapped at their top edge by an LED accent light. Sweeping chrome inserts and the prominently three-dimensional design of the lights underline the sophisticated character of the all-new BMW X5. In addition, the all-new BMW X5 is the brand‟s first model to feature Aero Blades. These black air-channelling elements are contiguous with the roof spoiler and help it to optimise the aerodynamic properties of the vehicle.

BMW xDrive in the all-new BMWX5Advanced Diesel: intelligent all-wheel drive.

The new BMW X5 is equipped with full-time xDrive, intelligent all-wheel drive, which actively manages the drive power split between the front and rear wheels at all times. The latest version of the xDrive power divider boasts optimised efficiency and a 1.4 kg reduction in weight. xDrive provides top-class traction and stability whatever the road and weather conditions, and also offers improved cornering dynamics, suppressing over steer or under steer before the driver is even aware of the need to do so.

All-wheel-drive models come with a new xDrive status display in the control display boasting 3D graphics. This standard-fitted feature shows real-time information about body roll and pitch. The all-new BMW X5 also comes with Hill Descent Control (HDC) -adriver assistance system in xDrive which holds the vehicle steadily at a pre-determined speed, helping with the job of brake control so that the driver can concentrate completely on steering. This makes the potentially difficult task of driving down a steep hill or over rough ground easy. HDC is particularly helpful when driving on changeable, loose or slippery downhill surfaces, such as gravel, or grass. Together with ABS, it ensures excellent stability and prevents the wheels from locking if the driver applies the brakes on a slope. This prevents the vehicle from skidding and permits the driver to retain control over the steering.

Engine: more driving enjoyment and efficiency with the BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder diesel engine.

As the first ever Sports Activity Vehicle, the BMWX5 continues to set benchmarks in its segment. The all-new BMW X5xDrive25d comeswith the BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder in-line diesel engine, BMW EfficientDynamicsinnovations,an8-speed Steptronic transmission and ECO PRO mode with new functions.

The all-new BMW X5 xDrive25d has an engine displacement of 1,995 cc, develops a maximum of 218 hp at 4,400 rpm with peak torque of 450 Nm at just 1,500 – 2,500 rpm. With the Steptronic 8-speed automatic transmission, it can sprint from 0 to 100km/h in just 8.2 seconds. It is also highly fuel efficient and environmentally friendly with fuel consumption of 17,2 km per liter and CO² emissions of 154 g/km.

The vehicle’s 8-speed Steptronic transmission, which features high internal efficiency, precision and short shift times, helps to improve both efficiency and driving enjoyment. In ECO PRO mode, the engine management, accelerator response and transmission characteristics are systematically tailored to support a particularly fuel-efficient, low-rpm driving style.

Chassis: adjustable for more driving enjoyment.

Sports Activity Vehicles are a vehicle segment first defined by BMW. Their combination of confident, sure-footed off-road traction and sporty but comfortable on-road driving has made them a global success. The all-new BMW X5 Advanced Diesel represents a further evolution of these qualities, incorporating refinements to the all-wheel-drive system and chassis technology. For example, using the standard-fitted Adaptive Suspension „Comfort‟ including air suspension on the rear axle and Driving Experience Control, the drive settings - such as Comfort, Sport and ECO PRO - can be matched to the requirements of different driving situations.

Enhancedcomfort and luxurious interior design.

The newly-designed driver and front passenger seats of the all-new BMW X5 Advanced Diesel ensure a high level of long-distance comfort and impressive lateral hold through dynamically taken corners. Comfort seats are now available for the rear compartment. These comfort seats come with bespoke ‘Dakota’ leather upholstery and backrest adjustments. The Ambient lights package includes nine pre-set lighting designs featuring tricolour – Blue, Classic and White – LEDs which provide a pleasant atmosphere throughout the interior. The Panorama glass roof also creates an overall sense of spaciousness in the all-new BMW X5 Advanced Diesel, while the sun blinds on the rear side windows increase privacy.

Besides the comfortable driving pleasure it offers, the interior design of the all-new BMW X5 also presents impressive functionality both in day-to-day use and on longer journeys. The folding backrest of the second-row seat bench can now be split 40: 20: 40, which allows the load capacity to be increased. The all-new BMW X5 is also decked out with a split two-section tailgate, the lower element of which can be folded down horizontally to form a single level with the load surface. Automatic tailgate operation for the upper section is a standard feature. Also, for the first time, the tailgate can be closed as well as opened using a remote control and, at the touch of a button, from the driver’s seat.

The exclusive driving experience offered by the all-new BMW X5 Advanced Diesel is also reflected in its extensive specifications and wide range of high-end features. These include the 10.2-inch Control Display of the standard-fitted BMW Navigation system Professional with iDrive Touch operating system. In addition, the vehicle boasts DVD drive with USB interface including Bluetooth, and a BMW loudspeaker system with 9 loudspeakers and 205 W output.
