Singapore. BMW Asiatoday announced the availability of the all-new BMW X1 in Singapore. With its robust appearance and functional versatility, the BMW X1 embodies an authentic experience of freedom and independence. The interior’s progressive design and sophisticated ambience, coupled with a refreshed exterior, serve to underline the Sports Activity Vehicle’s (SAV) deeply embedded premium character.

“The BMW X1 has evolved in terms of design and technology and is more appealing than ever,” said Mr. Lars Nielsen, Managing Director, BMW Group Asia. “Customers appreciate its design, practicality, and driving performance, and have even more to look forward to now. Not only is the BMW X1 the first BMW X model to be offered with a Category A COE, customers are also offered 5-year BMW Service Inclusive Plus and BMW Extended Warranty as part of the standard offer. We are confident the all-new BMW X1 will make a strong statement and will be top of mind for SAV customers.”

The all-new BMW X1 is offered in Singapore in two trims – xLine and M Sport. The SAV is built in BMW Group Plant Regensburg, where models with combustion engines, plug-in hybrid systems, and all-electric drive roll off a single assembly line for the first time.

Design: modern surface treatment, increased visual presence and robust looks in unmistakable BMW X model style.

With its significantly sharper design and increased interior space, the all-new BMW X1 represents an immediately recognisable leap forward in development. The surface treatment, lines, and classy exterior design details of the BMW X1 display its SAV identity more clearly than ever – distinctive design features include the powerful proportions, almost square wheel arch contours, and the signature BMW X model styling of the front and rear ends.

The third model generation has grown in its exterior dimensions – compared to its predecessor, it clocks in at a length of 4,500 mm (+53 mm), 1,845 mm in width (+24 mm), and a height of 1,642 mm (+44 mm) – giving it powerful proportions. The new car has a wheelbase of 2,692 mm, 22 mm longer than that of the outgoing model. Track widths have increased by 31 mm to 1,592 mm at the front axle and 1,593 mm at the rear axle, enhancing the handling composure and agility.

The upright front end of the BMW X1 gives it a much greater sense of presence, with slim LED headlights, a large, almost square BMW kidney grille, and X-shaped lines radiating out to the sides. Adaptive LED headlights with matrix high beam, pulsating turn indicators, and variable light distribution are available as standard on both trims in Singapore. Also included with this feature is an eye-catching Welcome and Goodbye show produced by the headlights and rear lights when the driver approaches the car or when the doors have just been locked.

Expressively sculpted surfaces and a long roofline including roof rails are the distinguishing features of the new model’s dynamically stretched silhouette. When viewed from the rear, the slim tailgate window, horizontal lines, striking LED lights and flared wheel arches produce the typical SAV look.

The robust aura of the all-new BMW X1 can be intensified to great effect with the specific design elements of the xLine model, which include stylistic underride protection. The M Sport model places the focus firmly on dynamic driving pleasure with features such as its large cooling air inlets.

Both model variants are offered with 19-inch light-alloy wheels in Singapore. Customers can choose from two solid and ten metallic shades for the exterior paint finish – including a Frozen paint option from BMW Individual for the first time.

Interior: progressive ambience, versatile space.

The interior of the all-new BMW X1 has been completely reworked and given a more futuristic feel as compared to its predecessor. The key elements of the cabin’s redesign are the slender instrument panel, the BMW Curved Display, the “floating” armrest with integral control panel, as well as a vertical smartphone tray at the front of the centre console.

A raised seating position and a progressive premium ambience drawing from the BMW iX help to create a distinctive driving experience inside the BMW X1. In the front section of the centre console, directly below the central air vent, is space for two cup holders and a smartphone tray with indirect illumination on both sides. Secured by a movable clasp, phones can be placed here upright for wireless charging and are visible to the driver and front passenger. The space underneath the armrest is used as a storage compartment. Alongside the gear selector lever (which has a new, reduced design) in the integral control panel are exquisitely embedded buttons for using vehicle functions. These include the Start/Stop button, the volume control for the audio system, and the button for the hazard lights. Among the other functions activated using the relevant buttons on the control panel are the parking brake and My Modes.

The newly developed seats are available in Sensatec perforated upholstery, with sports seats for the driver and front passenger. The rear compartment of the new BMW X1 includes three full-sized seats offering a notable improvement in seating comfort. For even greater versatility, the rear seats can be adjusted fore and aft by 130 mm. The 40 : 20 : 40 split rear seat backrests can be folded down or adjusted to a different angle to expand the boot capacity – increasing it from 540 litres (34 litres more than its predecessor) to a maximum of 1,600 litres (+50 litres).

The BMW X1 packs value for money with a host of standard equipment. Features include the BMW Maps navigation system, Comfort Access function, intelligent two-zone automatic climate control, and a rain sensor with automatic headlight activation. There are also four USB-C ports, two 12V power sockets, and a far greater number of driver assistance systems compared with the outgoing model. Improvements have also been made to both acoustic comfort and occupant protection. The integrated passive safety concept now also includes a new interaction airbag between the front seats.

Standard: BMW Operating System 8 and the new BMW iDrive.

The all-new BMW X1 also treats its occupants to the latest-generation BMW iDrive multi-sensory vehicle experience in the form of the standard-fit BMW Live Cockpit Plus. Based on BMW Operating System 8, it comprises the BMW Curved Display with its state-of-the-art graphics and menu structure along with the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant that has now gained additional skills.

The fully digital screen grouping is formed by the 10.25-inch information display and the control display with a screen diagonal of 10.7 inches. The new BMW iDrive is geared purposefully to providing intuitive touch and voice control. The broad-based digitalisation of the interior enables the number of physical buttons, controls and switches required for operation to be significantly reduced. The new My Modes combine individually selectable vehicle settings with matching experience worlds for the interior.

Efficient Dynamics – uncompromised performance.

The all-new BMW X1 is powered by a compact 1.5-litre engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology in front-wheel drive. The engine is paired to a 7-speed Steptronic double-clutch transmission, with the M Sport variant featuring gearshift paddles on the steering wheel for quick manual selection of gears. The BMW X1 delivers 122 hp and a fuel economy of 6.8 L/100km. With 230Nm of torque available across a wide rev band of 1,500-3,600 rpm, the SAV accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 10.5 seconds, and reaches a maximum speed of 200 km/h. Its CO2 emissions measure at 156 g/km, allowing the BMW X1 to achieve a neutral banding in the Vehicle Emissions Scheme without any penalty.

All-rounder offering optimum blend of agility and ride comfort.

The all-new BMW X1 offers well-resolved handling characteristics in any situation and delivers the driving experience for which the brand is renowned. The compact all-rounder’s sophisticated chassis technology produces a perfectly harmonious balance between sporty, agile handling on the one hand, and long-distance comfort on the other. All the tools required here are provided by a body construction that reduces weight while increasing rigidity, a long wheelbase, wider tracks than the predecessor model, and targeted upgrades to the single-joint spring strut axle at the front and the three-link rear axle.

Near-actuator wheel slip limitation is fitted as standard, benefiting both traction and directional stability. Other new features include the integrated braking system and the extra, lift-related damping at the front axle – this feature reduces body movement when driving over small bumps. All components of the single-joint spring strut axle at the front have been developed almost completely from scratch. The new axle kinematics and increase rigidity help give the car agile turn-in response and steering feel that is largely unaffected by torque steer. On the M Sport variant, the adaptive M suspension features frequency-selective damping, sport steering and a 15-millimetre drop in ride height.

Wide variety of systems for automated driving and parking.

The technological advances made in the all-new BMW X1 are also evident in the automated driving and parking systems available. Standard features include Cruise Control with brake function and the front-collision warning system, which is now also capable of detecting oncoming traffic when turning right (in countries where vehicles drive on the left) and pedestrians and cyclists when turning left. The Parking Assistant including Reversing Assist Camera and Reversing Assistant also forms part of the standard equipment roster.

The Lane Change Warning consistently monitors the zones to each side of the vehicle, and detects vehicles in the ‘blind spot’ from speeds of above 20 km/h. Rear Crossing Traffic Warning supports the driver in situations such as reversing out of parking spaces and brakes to avoid potential collisions in situations where it is difficult for the driver to monitor the entire surrounding. Another particularly useful feature is the exit warning function which detects approaching vehicles and cyclists, and warns the driver and/or passengers through an acoustic signal together with flashing LEDs in the mirror and ambient lighting system when opening doors. Additional features such as the BMW Drive Recorder can be optioned in Singapore by means of the Remote Software Upgrades facility.

My BMW App: a universal digital interface between driver and vehicle.

The My BMW smartphone app acts as a universal digital interface that provides information on the vehicle’s status at any time, from any location. Additionally, it enables remote operation of functions such as vehicle locating, locking and unlocking the doors, or monitoring the car’s immediate vicinity (Remote 3D View). Features also include the ability to send destination addresses from a suitably equipped smartphone to the vehicle’s navigation system. The My BMW App additionally provides customers with a direct link to their BMW dealer and the BMW brand, allowing them to arrange service appointments, for example, or find out the latest BMW news.

The all-new BMW X1 is now available for viewing at all authorised BMW showrooms.
