The all new BMW X3 introduced in Indonesia.

Jakarta.  PT BMW Indonesia announced the launch of the new BMW X3 in a press briefing today at Pacific Place. The second generation of BMW X3 is introduced with two engine variants: the BMW X3 xDrive35i with in-line six cylinder gasoline engine, and BMW X3 xDrive20d with in-line four cylinder diesel engine.

“The impressive ergonomics and generous amount of space in this new BMW X3 take driving comfort to the next level,” said Ramesh Divyanathan, President Director of BMW Indonesia.  “Every feature in this new Sports Activity Vehicle is designed to suit the needs of our customers.  The new BMW X3 is the perfect car to drive in congested city traffic as well as navigating hilly and winding country roads,”

Exceptionally agile handling and other superior characteristics of this intelligent four-wheel drive concept xDrive have made the BMW X3 a pioneer in its class and a global best seller. Since its introduction in 2004, it has sold a total of 614,824 units worldwide. 

Design: Urban elegance, dynamic flowing lines and the characteristic features of BMW X models.

The body design of the new BMW X conveys urban elegance and versatile agility. The combination of a flat front end and a high rear end produces a dynamic formed wedge shape, indicating the vehicle's sporting characteristics.

The side view of the new BMW X3 is characterised by unique interpretation of typical BMW X design features.  Powerfully flared wheel arches and short distance between the front axle and dashboard accentuate the robust character of the Sports Activity Vehicle.

The rear is characterised by horizontal lines, underlining the new BMW X3's robust character.  Distinctive lines and expressively modelled surfaces create attractive light and shadow effects.  The taillights, which are located far to the outside, have a distinctive T shape that is characteristic of the BMW X3.

The new BMW X3 xDrive20d is equipped with aluminium satinated roof rail, chrome surround and black slats in the front grille.  On BMW X3 xDrive35i, it is also equipped with chrome kidney slats in the grille and X Line in form of aluminium window recess covers, and Titanium look details on front and rear bumper.

Interior: Premium ambience, intelligent functionality.

A generous and variably utilisable spatial concept, high-grade materials and a characteristic three-dimensional surface design provide the interior of the new BMW X3 with a modern, premium ambience and intelligent functionality.

Brand-typical driver orientation is emphasised by the asymmetrically designed centre console. The raised seating position facilitates convenient entry and optimizing the overview of the traffic situation. The control display is harmoniously integrated into the instrument panel.

The new BMW X3 xDrive35i and X3 xDrive20d Executive offer a spacious interior feeling with panorama glass roof as a standard feature.

The new BMW X3 offers highest degree of interior variability due to folding and 60:40 split rear seat backrest, variable luggage compartment volume of 550 - 1,600 l.

The new BMW X3 xDrive35i: Top athlete in the segment.

Spontaneous response, high-revving characteristics, outstanding running smoothness and an efficiency that is unique for this model.  With BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, direct petrol injection and variable valve control VALVETRONIC, the new engine possess the qualities that are characteristic of a BMW in-line six cylinder engine.

The 3 liter engine generates a maximum output of 306 hp at 5,800 rpm and a maximum torque of 400 Nm between 1,200 and 5,000 rpm.  The engine enables

it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds.  Top speed is 245 km/h.  The fuel consumption is 11.4 km/l with CO2 emission level at 204 gr/km.

The new BMW X3 xDrive20d: Efficient, clean and high torque.

The new BMW X3 xDrive20d is powered by a 2 liter four cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with aluminium crankcase and common rail direct injection.  It mobilizes a maximum output of 184 hp at 4,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 380 Nm between 1,750 and 2,750 rpm.  Acceleration from 0 km/h to 100 km/h can be reached in 8.5 seconds and the top speed is 210 km/h.

The new BMW X3 xDrive20d sets a new benchmark in efficiency with an average fuel consumption of 17.9 km/l and a CO2 emission level of 147 g/km.

This is the fourth diesel model introduced by BMW in Indonesia, following the BMW X1 sDrive 20d, X5 xDrive30d and the new BMW 520d.  The BMW Advanced Diesel engine delivers superb fuel efficiency, low CO2 emissions, generous torque at low engine speeds and the typical BMW characteristics of superior smoothness and refined engine acoustics.

BMW EfficientDynamics in the new BMW X3: Premiere for Auto Start Stop

The new BMW X3 sDrive35i is equipped as standard with a Sports

automatic transmission with eight-speed with shift paddles on the steering wheel, while the X3 xDrive20d comes with eight-speed automatic transmission.  Both automatic transmissions are combined for the first time with an Auto Start Stop function. 

The Auto Start Stop function switches the engine off when the vehicle is brought to a standstill for a short time for example at traffic lights, so it avoids unnecessary fuel consumption.  The engine is restarted automatically in a process that completes within a fraction of a second.

The Auto Start Stop symbol in the Info display indicates that the function is active.  The driver has to brake the car to a complete standstill and keep the footbrake pedal depressed.  The engine is switched off after the car has been at a standstill for one second.  When it is time to move away the driver merely releases the footbrake pedal, the engine restarts automatically and the car can move off.  If the car has Auto Hold and the function is activated, the engine remains switched off even when the driver releases the footbrake pedal.  Under these circumstances the engine does not restart until the accelerator pedal is depressed.

Driving comfort and driving safety are not affected by the Auto Start Stop function. The function is not activated, for example, until the engine has reached the ideal running temperature. The same applies if the air conditioner has not yet brought the cabin to the desired temperature, if the battery is not adequately charged or if the driver moves the steering wheel.

The Auto Start Stop function can be completely deactivated with the press of a button.

This function is coordinated by a central control unit that monitors data from all relevant sensors, the starter motor and the alternator. If necessary for comfort or safety, the control unit will automatically restart the engine: for example, if the vehicle begins to roll, the battery charge falls too low or condensation forms on the windscreen.

Furthermore, the system also recognises the difference between a temporary stop and the end of the trip. It will not restart the engine if driver's seatbelt is undone, or if the door or bonnet is open. When used consistently, the Auto Start Stop function delivers significant reductions in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

BMW EfficientDynamics features in all model variants include brake energy regeneration, Electric Power Steering, intelligent lightweight construction and tires with reduced rolling resistance that contribute toward lowering fuel consumption and exhaust emission levels.

Newly developed suspension, optimized xDrive.

The new BMW X3 comes with permanent four-wheel drive technology BMW

xDrive as standard.  Its electronic control unit, which is interlinked with the DSC Dynamic Stability Control, counteracts at an early stage any tendency to oversteer or understeer through fast and precise response.

The new BMW X3 also features completely redeveloped suspension technology.

The double-joint spring-strut axle at the front and a five-link rear axle, in conjunction with a widened track, are the ideal prerequisites for optimizing agility and driving comfort.

EPS Electric Power Steering, including the Servotronic function for speed-dependent power steering, is incorporated in the new BMW X3 for the first time and contributes significantly to enhanced precise handling.

The new BMW X3: More comfortable than ever, benchmark in agility, driving

dynamics, efficiency.

Compared with the predecessor model, the new BMW X3 is characterized by a noticeable increase in motoring comfort and interior space. Both exterior length and width have increased, it is positioned precisely between the BMW X5 and the compact BMW X1.

The new BMW X3 remains the role model for driving dynamics, agility and efficiency.  Besides its generous amount of space, it also possesses the most innovative equipment features.

Safety features .

The safety features in the new BMW X3 cover active headrest for front passengers, side airbags and front airbags for front passengers, head airbags and curtains for all passengers, Brake Assist, Brake Force Display, ABS Antilock Braking System, EBV Electronic Brake Force, CBC Cornering Brake Control, DSC Dynamic Stability Control, DTC Dynamic Traction Control, Dynamic Braking Light, Run Flat Tires and Runflat indicator.

Other features .

BMW X3 xDrive35i and BMW X3 xDrive20d Executive are equipped with Bi-Xenon headlights with LED light rings and T-shape rear lights with LED bars, and automatic air conditioning with 2-zone control and Nevada leather with contrast stitching.

All models are equipped with Cruise Control with braking function, Hill Descent Control, Park Distance Control, Electromechanical Parking Brace with automatic hold function.

The new BMW X3 xDrive35i is equipped with USB Audio Interface, on board monitor 6.5" with colour liquid crystal display, Radio BMW Professional, CD, BMW HiFi Loudspeaker System with 12 loudspeakers and 205 watt digital power amplifier, Bluetooth preparation for mobile phone including Bluetooth audio streaming function and integrated owner's manual.

The new BMW X3 xDrive20d Business is equipped with USB Audio Interface, on board monitor 6.5" with colour liquid crystal display, Radio BMW Professional, CD, BMW Stereo Loudspeaker System with 6 loudspeakers, Bluetooth hands-free facility and integrated owner's manual.

Color options .

The new BMW X3 body color options consist of Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Mineral Silver, Space Grey, Sparkling Bronze and Titanium Silver.  For interior, the options are Beige, Black, Havana, Oyster, Oyster Black and Red Brown.
