Nürburgring (2nd September 2007). The seventh race weekend of the 2007 season
in Formula BMW Germany was dominated by the thrilling battle for supremacy in
the overall standings. Jens Klingmann (Leimen/Eifelland Racing) won Saturday's
race from Adrien Tambay (FRA/Josef Kaufmann Racing) and Daniel Campos-Hull
(ESP/Eifelland Racing). Meanwhile, rookie Marco Wittmann (Markt Erlbach/Josef
Kaufmann Racing) took the honours on Sunday ahead of Campos-Hull and Philipp
Eng (AUT/ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg) to record his second victory of the season.
Klingmann finished in fourth position. Both the weekend's races at the
Nürburgring saw the teams and drivers having to contend with the changeable
weather conditions typical of the Eifel mountains

In the overall standings the 18-year-old Campos-Hull - on 538 points - still
lies just three points behind series leader Klingmann (541). Wittmann remains
third (496), although he has extended his advantage over Eng to 14 points.
Spanish driver Campos-Hull was happy with his weekend's work - "It was
important to pick up points here" - and made an early declaration of intent
three weeks ahead of his home race in Barcelona: "I'll go away now, get some
good preparation work under my belt and take on daily fitness sessions. I know
the track in Barcelona well, so I'll be hoping to record two wins out of two."
A look at the statistics reveals just how exciting the duel between the two
championship leaders has become. Both Klingmann and Campos-Hull have notched up
eleven podium finishes this season to date.

The drivers spent the weekend glancing anxiously skywards, with showers a
constant threat. The conditions were decidedly tricky, with nobody ever quite
sure if it was about to rain. Although overjoyed with his win, Wittmann
expressed the hope that rather warmer and more settled weather might be on the
cards in Barcelona. Looking back on Sunday's victory in the Eifel, which
followed hot on the heels of his win the previous race weekend in Oschersleben,
he quipped: "More of the same would be great, but back-to-back wins next time
around wouldn't be too bad either." While likewise pleased with his
performance, Eng was impressed by the speed of Campos-Hull, who passed him on
lap three: "I was certainly surprised at how quickly he was onto me." However,
the Austrian also put in a strong showing, setting the fastest lap on Sunday.

The race was dominated by Wittmann, who started from pole position and went on
to complete a lights-to-flag victory. Campos-Hull slipped past team-mate
Klingmann on the opening lap, before adding Eng to his victims later on in the
race. Klingmann crossed the line fourth after repelling a wave of attacks from
French driver Adrien Tambay (Josef Kaufmann Racing), who had to be content with
fifth. All of which meant that Tambay (431 points) was unable to make up any
ground on Wittmann (496) at the top of the rookie standings.

Races 17 and 18 of Formula BMW Germany will take place at the Circuit de
Catalunya outside Barcelona on the eighth race weekend of the season from 21st
- 23rd September.

CO2 emission information.

Fuel consumption, CO2 emission figures and power consumption and range were measured using the methods required according to Regulation VO (EC) 2007/715 as amended. They refer to vehicles on the German automotive market. For ranges, the NEDC figures take into account differences in the selected wheel and tyre size, while the WLTP figures take into account the effects of any optional equipment.

All figures have already been calculated based on the new WLTP test cycle. NEDC figures listed have been adjusted to the NEDC measurement method where applicable. WLTP values are used as a basis for the assessment of taxes and other vehicle-related duties which are (also) based on CO2 emissions and, where applicable, for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies. Further information are available at www.bmw.de/wltp and at www.dat.de/co2/.
