Munich. For BMW, keeping the lead always means being a little faster than
others. The new Apple iPhone is here and its two main functions - telephone and
iPod operation - are supported by most BMW models right from the start. All the
customer needs to operate the iPhone is a hands-free car kit with Bluetooth
function and a USB audio interface.
Whether you're phoning, listening to music or calling up the address book, the
Apple iPhone can be operated very simply using the controls and displays in the
car. The special challenge for the engineers was to control the formerly two
separate functions (telephone and iPod operation) via one interface. The task
has been successfully solved and this means that nothing stands in the way of
enjoying Apple iPhone multi-media in a BMW.
As of now most BMW models in the US market are already set for iPhone
operation. In addition, all European BMW models are being readied for the use
of the new Apple iPhone for the planned market launch at the end of 2007.
