Munich. The scene has yet another dream team - MINI, the nimble performer and
fun machine from England and Apple's iPod, a sound machine at its best and a
pocket digital music player holding up to10,000 iTunes. Having already caused
quite a stir in their own particular markets, the two have now teamed up to
provide the greatest reality show ever experienced. After all, a 40 GB iPod
weighing a mere 175.7 grams placed inside the glove compartment is definitely
preferable to 39.5 kilos of CDs scattered on the rear seat. And the MINI's
steering wheel does the job of the Click Wheel on the iPod - thanks to the new
interface, songs can be selected using buttons on the multifunction steering
wheel.
Now available from all MINI Service Partners.
The MINI interface provides a link to the Apple iPods 3G, 4G and the iPod mini.
The equipment includes the interface, a connecting cable for the MINI Radio,
the iPod and operating instructions. The interface is suitable for all MINI
models featuring Radio Boost. As in the past, iPods are available directly from
Apple only.
The MINI interface supports all iPod functions, these being controllable via
the multifunction steering wheel and the MINI Radio Boost. Sound is reproduced,
as is the case with any audio equipment, via the MINI's in-car sound system.
During operation the iPod is charged via the on-board network. In vehicles
featuring a CD changer the iPod can be operated after disconnecting the
changer.
The MINI interface is priced at €157.50 plus installation, which takes between
half an hour and one hour. Time enough to grab the opportunity to think about
enhancing your listening pleasure even more: opt for the Digital Power Sound
Module with a 660-watt nominal music power output and a sound pressure level of
128 dB (A), audio equipment par excellence for that awesome sound with deep
rich basses.
Apple iPod: Revolutionising the music business.
The Apple iPod is not only an excellent piece of audio equipment but the front
end of a changeover of systems within the music business - carried by the true
spirit of Apple - 100% usability in an intuitive infotainment package.
The motto is: buy the sound and not the CD. Currently, 800,000 songs released
by leading record labels - but also by independents - can be legally downloaded
from the iTunes Music Store from just € 0.99 per song. Compared to this success
story, previous Apple hypes dwindle to secondary significance. The iTunes Music
Store went online in April 2003 and by the end of January 2005, 250 million
songs had been sold at a current daily download rate of 1.25 million iTunes.
