CeBIT 2004: BMW Online now also available for 5 Series

Hannover/Munich. At CeBIT 2004, BMW will be presenting the internet-based BMW
Online services available for the first time in the 5 Series. BMW Online was
launched in 2001 and has so far been an option only on the 7 Series. In April
2004 it will be extended to the 5 Series and 6 Series as well. BMW Online
supports driver mobility by means of a comprehensive service package. This
includes a parking information service that guides the motorist to the nearest
car park with available parking spaces, as well as more than 42 million local
data items from directory enquiries or general telephone directories, together
with details of all-night pharmacies, information on cultural events or
recommendations from the MICHELIN® Hotel and Restaurant Guide. A news service
and 3D weather service are also available, as are stock information services
and flight information. E-mail access rounds off the range of convenient
services offered by BMW Online.

By extending its BMW Online services to the 5 and 6 Series, BMW is
systematically driving forward its ConnectedDrive concept. The objective is to
dispel the driver?s isolation behind the wheel and link him or her up with the
environment by means of internet-based services: ?For us it isn?t so much the
internet as such; our aim is to use the medium of the internet to offer the
driver and front-seat passenger travel-related and personalized services. These
are exclusively available to our customers through a protected server. With the
5 Series, we are now reaching entirely new target groups,? stresses Holger
Jeebe, head of BMW?s ConnectedDrive programme. The BMW 5 Series, frequently
used as a company car by business executives and sales staff, now offers a
package that is perfectly tailored to this customer group thanks to its online
services. The integration of BMW Online in the 5 Series has thus been a logical
and consistent step forward. BMW Online is available as a special option for
the BMW 5, 6 and 7 Series at a cost of 750 Euros. From the second year onwards,
there is an annual charge of 175 Euros.

Information utilization: intelligent links to the navigation system and
telephone
BMW Online is directly connected to the navigation system and in-car telephone.
This allows the driver to call up the latest local information at any time and
to transfer relevant addresses and telephone numbers to the navigation system
and telephone at the push of a button.

BMW Online is comprised of the following menu items:

Mobility Service with information about the closest car parks with available
parking lots. Parkinfo has a list of car parks in 85 major German cities and 20
airports ? containing altogether more than 600,000 parking lots. Index-linked
data are already available in more than 25 cities. The driver can check at any
time the availability of parking lots prior to driving to a car park.

Directory Enquiries is comprised of the Yellow Pages, Phone Directory, Flight
Information, Emergency Pharmacy Service as well as information regarding more
than 65,000 Cash Dispensers in Germany. The cash dispensers are sorted
according to the various banks to enable the driver to find the fastest way to
?his? bank. The driver can transmit the information retrieved online directly
to the navigation system or the car phone by pressing just one button.

Hotels & Restaurants: addresses, phone numbers including a short description of
selected hotels and restaurants from the MICHELIN® Guide as well as additional
recommended addresses guide the driver quickly and unerringly to the hotel or
restaurant of his choice.

The menu item Entertainment & Leisure consists of, among others, the Michelin
Green Guide by ViaMichelin, general information about ?Traveling? and
location-based information concerning movie theaters and art exhibitions.

News & Weather informs the BMW Online driver and passengers about the latest
trends worldwide. The news is from the news agency dpa: Latest reports, focus
points, topic of the day, regional information, economy, sports, science as
well as lifestyle and entertainment form the various categories of the BMW
Online news menu. The 3-D Weather Service enables the driver of a BMW 7 Series
to retrieve weather information and satellite-based pictures of his present
position, from his destination and from any city in Germany via his onboard
visual display.

Business & Markets: BMW Online supplies the driver and passengers with
up-to-date information about share price trends and enterprises listed on the
stock exchange. The Infobolsa Deutschland GmbH, a company of the Deutsche Börse
Group, updates all data on the BMW portal which is accessed by BMW Online
customers from their cars. Apart from the general Stock Information Service,
customers can retrieve selected Prices & Charts and even create an individual
Watchlist in order to keep an eye on their portfolios at any time.

The Mobile Office of BMW Online offers both a personal E-mail account and an
Address Book. All personal addresses retrieved earlier from a PC to the BMW
Online portal are now available in the car as geo-coded information. All
addresses can be transferred to the navigation system or the car phone by a
simple touch of a button.

Pan-European Services: Even outside of Germany BMW Online supports BMW 5, 6,
and 7 Series customers with location-based information. Hotel-, restaurant-,
travel-information as well as other points of interest in Great Britain,
France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, The Netherlands, Austria, and Switzerland is
available via the MICHELIN® Guide and the Michelin Green Guide by ViaMichelin.
Upon request, BMW Online will also direct the driver to the nearest BMW dealer
in these countries.

By means of the menu item My BMW Online any client is able to personalize the
user interface on his personal computer at home to be able to access ?his?
services within the start menu.
