The next stop for the 15 drivers in this year’s Formula BMW Talent Cup is Valencia. And this time, media reps and fans who cannot be there can nevertheless keep track of the action in real time as these up-and-coming drivers from eleven different nations take part in race simulations on the Circuit Valencia as part of their training, bringing them one step closer to a professional motorsport career. There will be live timing of the training in Valencia at http://www.motorsport-events.se/livetiming-formula-bmw/, giving anyone who is interested direct access to the key facts and figures as events unfold on the track.
The programme of events in Valencia includes extensive on-track sessions comprising practical and theoretical training elements and also once again further media training and detailed fitness reviews. At the beginning of their training, the drivers underwent an intensive week-long fitness training session, during which clearly structured fitness plans were developed. The progress the drivers have made with their fitness plans is now being checked in Valencia. The meeting in Valencia is another important step in the direction of the ‘grand finale’ for the 14 to 19-year-old drivers of tomorrow, which will take place during the DTM in Oschersleben from 14 to 16 September and which will mark the end of a year of training for the drivers in the 2012 Formula BMW Talent Cup. The winner of the three races in Oschersleben will subsequently be financed by BMW for the entire season of another racing series in 2013.
Dirk Adorf, BMW factory driver and head instructor, comments as follows on the meeting in Valencia: “Drivers have to meet high standards in professional motorsport. And thorough training is absolutely essential in order for these standards to be met. The Valencia training session is another step in the participants’ development, giving them targeted and comprehensive preparation for a successful career in professional motorsport. The most recent meetings have already demonstrated just how much talent there is in this year’s group of rookies, and I am very pleased that the live timing in Valencia will also give media reps and fans a very good idea of how good they are.”
