Munich, November 27, 2012. Florian Stüger (DE) won the third and final Formula BMW Talent Cup scholarship shoot-out of the year. At the Circuit Ricardo Tormo near Valancia (ES), which was exclusively booked by BMW, the 16-year-old driver from Hamburg defeated a field of eight further contenders from five different countries which secured Stüger a scholarship worth 35,700 Euros (incl. 19% German VAT), which goes towards the cost of participating in the 2013 Formula BMW Talent Cup season. Second and third place went to Larry ten Voorde (NL) and Michael Waldherr (DE) respectively.
The scholarship shoot-out at the former Formula 1 circuit was this year’s tenth try-out session for prospective participants in the 2013 Formula BMW Talent Cup which aims to comprehensively and sustainably prepare talented drivers for a career in professional motorsport. The entry list for the 2013 Formula BMW Talent Cup season is starting to take shape, with further try-outs planned before the start of the 2013 season. Comprehensive information will shortly be made available.
The 2013 Formula BMW Talent Cup curriculum, during which participants will receive comprehensive development in a variety of practical and theoretical elements in order to prepare them for the “Grand Final” in autumn 2013, will commence in early next year. The winner of the final event will receive an extremely attractive award: financing of a full season in a next-level feeder racing series by BMW.
Florian Stüger, winner of the scholarship shoot-out in Valencia: “To be able to take to the track at the demanding Circuit Ricardo Tormo in a BMW FB02 single-seater racing car was in itself a very special experience. To then win the scholarship shoot-out was an absolute highlight for me. Winning the scholarship shoot-out provides very special motivation for my participation in the 2013 Formula BMW Talent Cup season, where I plan to take my knowledge and skill in single-seater to the next level.”
