Hockenheim (DE), 3rd May 2013. High-speed relaxation ahead of a thrilling weekend of racing: with one day to go until the first qualifying of the new DTM season in Hockenheim (DE), BMW DTM drivers Dirk Werner (DE), Augusto Farfus (BR), Joey Hand (US), Martin Tomczyk (DE), Andy Priaulx (GB), Marco Wittmann (DE) and Timo Glock (DE) spent their last few free hours at the Holiday Park theme park in Hassloch (DE). The drivers had great fun together on the spectacular rides, as they geared up for the first showdown of the year.
“I have not been to a theme park for many years, and feel like I have taken a trip back into my childhood,” said Glock. “It was fun to relax together with my team-mates again on the day before our first outing in the DTM. Everyone knows that racing drivers are thrill-seekers away from the racetrack too.”
Joey Hand said: “My native USA is famous for its theme parks. By the looks of things, however, there are also some great attractions in Germany. Fun and a bit of adrenalin: the perfect way to warm up for the opening race weekend of the season.”
While his fellow BMW drivers were enjoying themselves at the theme park, reigning DTM champion Bruno Spengler (CA) was attending the official press conference in the Baden-Württemberg Center. “I have to admit I am a bit jealous of my colleagues, as they will definitely have had great fun,” said the BMW Team Schnitzer driver. “However, attending the press conference as champion is obviously all part of the experience. It is a very special start to the season for me. I may be the man everyone is out to beat this time, but that changes absolutely nothing for me. My goal at every race will be to get the best result possible.”
