Pharaons Rally Egypt: Nasser Al-Attiyah in 2nd place at
halftime // Three MINI ALL4 Racing in the top five
.
Munich (DE). Nasser Al-Attiyah (QT) is currently lying in 2nd place
in his MINI ALL4 Racing at the Pharaons Rally Egypt. The driver of the
Monster Energy X-raid team is seven minutes behind Yazeed Al-Rajhi
(SA) at halftime of the famous rally in the FIA World Cup for
Cross-Country Rallies.
Al-Attiyah won two of the three stages so far, once again
proving the reliability and good performance of the MINI ALL4 Racing
car, who has already won three challenging events in the desert so
far, including the world-famous Dakar Rally in January.
Once again, the drivers could enjoy the beautiful landscape and
the scenic oasis of Egypt on the first three stages, but also had to
tackle a lot of challenges. The route from El Gouna at the coast of
the Red Sea to Baharia in the desert with its changing terrain and
high temperatures proved to be difficult, a lot of drivers got stuck
or suffered technical problems.
Vladimir Vasilyev (RU) in the second MINI ALL4 Racing is
currently in 4th place. The overall leader in the World Cup finished
2nd twice on the first two stages and is currently only two minutes
behind 3rd placed driver Marek Dabrowski (PL). Erik van Loon (NL) in
the third MINI ALL4 Racing car is 5th at the moment.
The route of the Pharaons Rally Egypt will lead the drivers
further north now to the Pyramids of Giza – a wonderful World Heritage
Site and the highlight of the event. The rally will end on Sunday when
the drivers head to the Egyptian capitol Cairo in the Nile valley.
