Munich, 3rd December 2014. Last weekend saw the 2014 season finale of the South African Motorcycle Championship (SAM) – with more podium finishes for the BMW S 1000 RR. The final round was held at Red Star Raceway near Johannesburg (ZA). Privateer BMW Motorrad rider Lance Isaacs (ZA) was still in the title fight, arriving at Red Star Raceway second in the overall classification of the highest category, the Super GP class. He was 24 points off leader Clint Seller (ZA), with 50 more points to grab in the final two races of the year.

So Isaacs was prepared to take some risks in order to win both races and get the maximum points haul with his BMW S 1000 RR from Black Swan Racing. Unfortunately, Lady Luck was not on Isaacs’ side. In race one, he crashed while he was trying to take the lead. He was able to continue in the race and crossed the line in tenth. Nevertheless, the BMW S 1000 RR was on the podium in this race: Isaacs’ team mate Brent Harran (ZA) came home third. In race two, it was Isaacs again who sprayed the champagne, claiming third on the podium, while Harran was fifth.

Isaacs finished the 2014 season second in the overall classification and is already looking forward to next year, when he will race the new RR. “I am convinced this will be the bike to beat in the Super GP class in 2015,” he said. His team-mate Harran was third overall. In total, the two riders claimed two wins and 16 podiums with their Black Swan Racing RRs. Isaacs also announced that he will take part in the BMW Motorrad Race Trophy again next year. In 2014, he was among the ten best privateer BMW Motorrad riders world-wide, finishing ninth in the inaugural season of the Race Trophy.

In the Super M class, privateer BMW Motorrad rider Janine Davies (ZA) was also aiming to end the season on a high. But the fast lady had a heavy crash in Saturday’s qualifying. She suffered a fracture to her right wrist, a concussion and an elbow injury. Davies had to spend several days in hospital under observation. The whole BMW Motorrad Motorsport family wishes her a speedy recovery.

CO2 emission information.

Fuel consumption, CO2 emission figures and power consumption and range were measured using the methods required according to Regulation VO (EC) 2007/715 as amended. They refer to vehicles on the German automotive market. For ranges, the NEDC figures take into account differences in the selected wheel and tyre size, while the WLTP figures take into account the effects of any optional equipment.

All figures have already been calculated based on the new WLTP test cycle. NEDC figures listed have been adjusted to the NEDC measurement method where applicable. WLTP values are used as a basis for the assessment of taxes and other vehicle-related duties which are (also) based on CO2 emissions and, where applicable, for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies. Further information are available at www.bmw.de/wltp and at www.dat.de/co2/.
