Munich (DE), 20th July 2015. With great disbelief and sadness, BMW Motorrad Motorsport has learned the sad news of the deaths of privateer BMW Motorrad rider Daniel Rivas (ES) and Yamaha rider Bernat Martínez (ES), who lost their lives in a tragic accident yesterday, Sunday, during the MotoAmerica race at Laguna Seca (US).

This season Rivas was racing successfully in the FIM CEV Superbike European Championship. At Laguna Seca, the 27-year old competed with a wild card. The tragic incident occurred during the first lap of the second MotoAmerica race, when several riders fell in what was a chain-reaction. Rivas and Martínez succumbed to their injuries later in hospital.

BMW Motorrad Motorsport’s thoughts are with the families, friends and teams of the two riders, and the whole BMW Motorrad Motorsport community would like to express its most sincere condolences.

The sporting action at Laguna Seca and the weekend’s other racing events pale into insignificance for BMW Motorrad Motorsport after this tragic news.

CO2 emission information.

Fuel consumption, CO2 emission figures and power consumption and range were measured using the methods required according to Regulation VO (EC) 2007/715 as amended. They refer to vehicles on the German automotive market. For ranges, the NEDC figures take into account differences in the selected wheel and tyre size, while the WLTP figures take into account the effects of any optional equipment.

All figures have already been calculated based on the new WLTP test cycle. NEDC figures listed have been adjusted to the NEDC measurement method where applicable. WLTP values are used as a basis for the assessment of taxes and other vehicle-related duties which are (also) based on CO2 emissions and, where applicable, for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies. Further information are available at www.bmw.de/wltp and at www.dat.de/co2/.
