Whether in the DTM, the United SportsCar Championship, or countless other championships: week after week BMW teams and drivers around the world do battle for points, victories and titles. Away from the track too, members of the large BMW Motorsport family around the world are also creating headlines. The “BMW Motorsport News” allows us to regularly summarise all the action for you in a compact and informative manner. This way, you are always up to speed.

DTM: Martin wins, Spengler celebrates on the podium.

Going into the weekend at the Nürburgring (DE), four BMW drivers had already added their names to the list of 2015 DTM winners – and another driver joined their ranks in the Eifel: Maxime Martin (BE) gifted BMW Team RMG a home win on Saturday. His team-mate Marco Wittmann (DE), António Félix da Costa (PT), Timo Glock (DE) and Tom Blomqvist (GB) had already climbed to the top of the podium before him. After his victory in Moscow (RU) in 2014, this was the second DTM win of Martin's career. Bruno Spengler (CA) in third was the best-placed BMW driver in the second race on Sunday. But Martin Tomczyk (DE) also had reason to celebrate: After technical problems with his car prevented him from competing on Saturday, the BMW Team Schnitzer driver showed his great fighting spirit in the race on Sunday: Starting from 24th on the grid, the 2011 champion worked his way up into ninth place – which saw him leave the Eifel with two points.

Three questions for... Maxime Martin.

Maxime, what does your second DTM win mean to you?

Maxime Martin: “Naturally this win means a great deal to me. It was great winning in Moscow in my rookie season in 2014. But to do it again in this difficult series is great confirmation for me. The start of the year didn't go that well for any of us. So my weekends were rather mixed. Which makes it even better that I got another win here. It's a fantastic feeling.”

And at the Nürburgring, at BMW Team RMG's home event...

Martin: “Yes, naturally that was the icing on the cake. There could hardly have been a better place to get my second DTM win. The guys had a lot of family and friends here at the track and gave it their all. To be able thank them with a victory is fantastic.”

Now, among other things, the manufacturers' title is up for grabs in Hockenheim. Does this common goal unite all of the drivers?

Martin: “Definitely. We want to pick up the necessary points so that we clinch the title. And we know that it doesn't really matter which of the drivers gets the points. We want to win as a big team. This team spirit is what distinguishes BMW Motorsport. That's why I am really looking forward to the finale.”

BTCC: Sixth win of the season for the BMW 125i M Sport.

At the penultimate race weekend in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) in Silverstone (GB), BMW works driver Andy Priaulx (GB) celebrated the sixth win of the season for his team West Surrey Racing. In the second race, on the legendary track, at the wheel of the BMW 125i M Sport he was the first to cross the finish line after 22 laps. His two team-mates Sam Tordoff (GB) and Robert Collard (GB) also made it into the top ten, finishing in sixth and ninth. Priaulx started the first race on Sunday from the back of the grid and finished in 23rd. Collard and Tordoff finished in seventh and tenth. The third race was not yet finished at the time of writing.

ADAC GT Masters: Spengler to drive the BMW Z4 GT3.

BMW Sports Trophy Team Schubert is getting VIP support at the season finale of the ADAC GT Masters on 3rd and 4th October in Hockenheim (DE): BMW DTM driver Bruno Spengler (CA) will race alongside Dominik Baumann (AT) in the number 80 BMW Z4 GT3 and support the Austrian as he battles for the drivers' title. Spengler is standing in for Jens Klingmann (DE), who will contest the season finale of the United SportsCar Championship (USCC) in Road Atlanta (US) for BMW Motorsport the same weekend.

Italian GT Championship: Eighth place for ROAL Motorsport in Misano.

Two more Italian GT Championship races took place in Misano (IT) at the weekend. The two ROAL Motorsport drivers, Andrea Gagliardini (IT) and Stefano Comandini (IT), finished in eighth place in the number 5 BMW Z4 GT3 5 in the second race on Sunday. The duo retired early on Saturday.

CO2 emission information.

Fuel consumption, CO2 emission figures and power consumption and range were measured using the methods required according to Regulation VO (EC) 2007/715 as amended. They refer to vehicles on the German automotive market. For ranges, the NEDC figures take into account differences in the selected wheel and tyre size, while the WLTP figures take into account the effects of any optional equipment.

All figures have already been calculated based on the new WLTP test cycle. NEDC figures listed have been adjusted to the NEDC measurement method where applicable. WLTP values are used as a basis for the assessment of taxes and other vehicle-related duties which are (also) based on CO2 emissions and, where applicable, for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies. Further information on the WLTP and NEDC measurement procedures is also available at www.bmw.de/wltp.

For further details of the official fuel consumption figures and official specific CO2 emissions of new cars, please refer to the “Manual on the fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and power consumption of new cars”, available at sales outlets free of charge, from Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH (DAT), Hellmuth-Hirth-Str. 1, 73760 Ostfildern-Scharnhausen and at https://www.dat.de/co2/.
