Jerez de la Frontera (ES), 17th October 2016. The decision came in a dramatic final round at Jerez de la Frontera (ES): Raffaele De Rosa and the Althea BMW Racing Team celebrated the title win in the 2016 FIM Superstock 1000 Cup (STK1000). In the last race of the season, De Rosa crossed the line in fifth place. This was sufficient to be crowned champion with an advantage of three points over his rival Leandro Mercado (AR). In the eight races held this season, De Rosa claimed two wins and three further podium finishes. The experts from BMW Motorrad Motorsport were on site all season to support the Althea BMW Racing Team and all the other teams in the STK1000. It was the eighth title win of the year for the BMW Motorrad Motorsport community.

“I dedicate this title to my family - who have always supported me, even through the difficult times - and to the team, with whom I’ve now worked with for two years and I am so grateful for all their help. I’ve been working towards this for several years and so am extremely happy that the result has arrived after all our efforts,” De Rosa said.

A sensational outing for Maximilian Scheib (CL) rounded off the successful Jerez race for the BMW STK1000-teams. The runner-up in the 2016 FIM CEV Superbike European Championship (CEV) and his Graphbikes Easyrace SBK Team competed with a wild card. Starting from fourth on the grid, Scheib soon took the lead on his BMW S 1000 RR and held it until the final lap. Just a few corners before the finish he dropped back to second – but overtook his rival Lucas Mahias (FR) again in the last metres with a brave manoeuvre to secure his first victory in the series.

“Congratulations to Raffaele and the Althea BMW Racing Team,” said Berthold Hauser, Technical Director BMW Motorrad Motorsport. “It was a great season and exciting until the final chequered flag. From the season opener on, Raffaele showed a great performance and determination. He had the goal to win this title and he achieved it, so he more than deserves it. We are very happy to have contributed our part to this success. We worked closely with the team from winter testing on and it is fantastic that we can now celebrate another title win for the BMW S 1000 RR in the highly competitive FIM Superstock 1000 Cup. Congratulations also to our young Chilean Maximilian Scheib, who put in an impressive performance in the CEV. With his great victory in the Jerez STK1000 race, Maxi clearly demonstrated his talent.”

CO2 emission information.

Fuel consumption, CO2 emission figures and power consumption and range were measured using the methods required according to Regulation VO (EC) 2007/715 as amended. They refer to vehicles on the German automotive market. For ranges, the NEDC figures take into account differences in the selected wheel and tyre size, while the WLTP figures take into account the effects of any optional equipment.

All figures have already been calculated based on the new WLTP test cycle. NEDC figures listed have been adjusted to the NEDC measurement method where applicable. WLTP values are used as a basis for the assessment of taxes and other vehicle-related duties which are (also) based on CO2 emissions and, where applicable, for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies. Further information on the WLTP and NEDC measurement procedures is also available at www.bmw.de/wltp.

For further details of the official fuel consumption figures and official specific CO2 emissions of new cars, please refer to the “Manual on the fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and power consumption of new cars”, available at sales outlets free of charge, from Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH (DAT), Hellmuth-Hirth-Str. 1, 73760 Ostfildern-Scharnhausen and at https://www.dat.de/co2/.
