Whether in the DTM, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, or countless other championships: Week after week BMW teams and drivers around the world do battle for points, victories and titles. Away from the track too, members of the large BMW Motorsport family around the world are also creating headlines. The “BMW Motorsport News” allows us to regularly summarise all the action for you in a compact and informative manner. This way, you are always up to speed.

BMW M8 GTE: Video impressions from the Lausitzring.

Last week the BMW M8 GTE completed its first official test drives. At the Lausitzring (GER), Martin Tomczyk (GER) and Maxime Martin (BEL) were in action in the cockpit of BMW Motorsport’s new GT race car. A video clip of this test is available now on YouTube: https://youtu.be/kln6vwMoHO8.

ICTSC: Podium for BimmerWorld Racing.

At the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge race in Lime Rock Park (USA), the BimmerWorld Racing team celebrated a top-three position in the Street Tuner class. Tyler Cooke (USA) and James Clay (USA) finished third in the number 84 BMW 328i. Their team-mates Greg Liefooghe (USA) and Ari Balogh (USA) finished sixth in the number 81 BMW 328i to make it into the top-ten, as did Michael Johnson (USA) and Stephen Simpson (USA) for the JDC-Miller Motorsports team in the BMW 228i; the duo finished in eighth place in the ST classification.

ADAC GT Masters: Turbulent weekend for the BMW M6 GT3.

The ADAC GT Masters made its second appearance outside Germany this weekend, in Zandvoort (NED). BMW Team Schnitzer experienced two turbulent races with the drivers Philipp Eng (AUT) and Nick Catsburg (NED) in the #42 BMW M6 GT3. After Catsburg’s fourth place in qualifying on Saturday, a rule violation in the first practice session meant a five-place grid penalty. From ninth on the grid, the two drivers showed courageous spirit in a race with two warm-up laps and a safety car period ten minutes before the end of the race. After 34 laps, they finished in sixth place at the “Circuit Park Zandvoort”. The race on Sunday turned into rain roulette. From 20th on the grid, the duo delivered an impressive catch-up in difficult track conditions, which unfortunately went unrewarded in the end. In the battle for fifth place, the #42 BMW M6 GT3 retired after a collision two minutes before the end of the race. Next weekend both Eng and Catsburg will be in action for the ROWE Racing team at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps (BEL).

CO2 emission information.

Fuel consumption, CO2 emission figures and power consumption and range were measured using the methods required according to Regulation VO (EC) 2007/715 as amended. They refer to vehicles on the German automotive market. For ranges, the NEDC figures take into account differences in the selected wheel and tyre size, while the WLTP figures take into account the effects of any optional equipment.

All figures have already been calculated based on the new WLTP test cycle. NEDC figures listed have been adjusted to the NEDC measurement method where applicable. WLTP values are used as a basis for the assessment of taxes and other vehicle-related duties which are (also) based on CO2 emissions and, where applicable, for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies. Further information on the WLTP and NEDC measurement procedures is also available at www.bmw.de/wltp.

For further details of the official fuel consumption figures and official specific CO2 emissions of new cars, please refer to the “Manual on the fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and power consumption of new cars”, available at sales outlets free of charge, from Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH (DAT), Hellmuth-Hirth-Str. 1, 73760 Ostfildern-Scharnhausen and at https://www.dat.de/co2/.
