Baja Aragon 2018

Baja Aragon 2018Round 7, FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup .

  • Jakub ‘Kuba’ Przygonski and co-driver Tom Colsoul prepared for the challenges of Baja Aragon 2018.
  • MINI John Cooper Works Rally driver Przygonski aims for top three finish to consolidate his lead of the FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup.
  • 2018 is the 35th edition of Baja Aragon.

Munich. The seventh round of 2018 FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup is the long established Baja Aragon, which celebrates its 35th year of being a leading venue for cross-country rally action. The 2018 edition of Baja Aragon is also the sixth time the event has been held in and around the mountain regions of Teruel, eastern Spain – a location that will provide MINI Motorsport and motorsport partner X-raid’s engineers with excellent chassis and engine feedback as part of the preparation for Dakar 2019.

Jakub ‘Kuba’ Przygonski (POL) and co-driver Tom Colsoul (BEL) currently lead the 2018 FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup. The MINI Family crew have dominated the race action in this year’s World Cup, but with four rounds of the season still to go, they are aware they have to keep amassing points to keep their MINI John Cooper Works Rally ahead of a very determined chasing pack.

2017 was the first time Przygonski had competed within Baja Aragon. His race result was sixth overall and only minutes off the race winning time, so he knows only too well that Baja Aragon will produce close, competitive racing.

Baja Aragon 2018 comes to life on Thursday 19th July with scrutineering of cars and motorcycles and their crews/riders. Race action begins Friday 20th July with a Special Stage of 13.46km. Three more stages will follow, with Stage 4 being the last to run on Sunday 22nd July. Of the 809.92 racing kilometres, 521.42km will be off-road Special Stages, where a race can be won or lost depending on conditions and, of course, a little bit of Lady Luck.

Jakub ‘Kuba’ Przygonski: “2017 was the year I made my Baja Aragon debut and I learned that it is not an easy event. Tom and I will have to push from the start in order to score as many points as possible. The battle for the 2018 FIA World Cup title is fun but it is also proving to be extremely close right to the end.”

CO2 emission information.

Fuel consumption, CO2 emission figures and power consumption and range were measured using the methods required according to Regulation VO (EC) 2007/715 as amended. They refer to vehicles on the German automotive market. For ranges, the NEDC figures take into account differences in the selected wheel and tyre size, while the WLTP figures take into account the effects of any optional equipment.

All figures have already been calculated based on the new WLTP test cycle. NEDC figures listed have been adjusted to the NEDC measurement method where applicable. WLTP values are used as a basis for the assessment of taxes and other vehicle-related duties which are (also) based on CO2 emissions and, where applicable, for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies. Further information on the WLTP and NEDC measurement procedures is also available at www.bmw.de/wltp.

For further details of the official fuel consumption figures and official specific CO2 emissions of new cars, please refer to the “Manual on the fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and power consumption of new cars”, available at sales outlets free of charge, from Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH (DAT), Hellmuth-Hirth-Str. 1, 73760 Ostfildern-Scharnhausen and at https://www.dat.de/co2/.
