Italian GT: BMW Team Italia extends winning streak at Mugello.
The success story continues for BMW Team Italia in the Italian GT Championship. At Mugello (ITA), BMW Motorsport Junior Erik Johansson (SWE) and Stefano Comandini (ITA) were unstoppable once again in the #15 BMW M6 GT3 at the fifth race weekend of the season. The BMW Team Italia duo celebrated another win in the first race on Saturday. The two drivers reached the podium once again on Sunday after finishing third in the second sprint race of the weekend. Their team-mates Giuseppe Fascicolo and Francesco Guerra (both ITA) also had plenty of reason to celebrate in the #207 BMW M4 GT4 after claiming victory in the GT4 class in Sunday’s race following a post-race disqualification on Saturday. The sixth race weekend in the Italian GT Championship takes place from 13th to 15th September at Vallelunga (ITA).
W Series: Home race for Beitske Visser.
BMW Motorsport Junior Beitske Visser (NED) competed in her home race in the W Series at the weekend. The fifth event of the new race series took place as part of the DTM weekend at Assen (NED). Visser finished fourth in Saturday’s race, just missing out on the podium. This allowed Visser to cement second place overall in the championship standings, 13 points behind leader Jamie Chadwick (GBR). Sunday featured a special event, an extra race, in which the grid was set up according to the championship standings in reverse order with no points being awarded. Visser concluded this turbulent race in 14th place.
IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge: Two top ten finishes at Lime Rock Park.
This weekend, the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge visited Lime Rock Park (USA) for the sixth race of the season. The #82 BMW M4 GT4 of BimmerWorld Racing finished in fourth place, just missing out on the podium. Driving duties had been shared between the two regular drivers, Devin Jones and James Clay (both USA). In the Turner Motorsport #96 BMW M4 GT4, Robby Foley and Bill Auberlen (both USA) recorded another top ten finish for BMW. The duo claimed tenth place. The next race takes place on 3rd August at Road America (USA).
