International Road Racing Championship: Davey Todd celebrates early title win.

The international BMW Motorrad Motorsport community is celebrating its second title win of the 2019 season. A week after Ben Young (CAN) became champion of the Canadian Superbike Championship (CSBK), Davey Todd (GBR) was crowned champion in the International Road Racing Championship (IRRC) before the end of the season. At the fifth and penultimate event of the year, in Hořice (CZE), Todd took another double win with his WEPOL Racing team’s BMW S 1000 RR, which saw him clinch the title. “A double win in Hořice was an awesome way to wrap up the title with one round still left to go. It was another big milestone in an incredible year with the WEPOL Racing team,” said Todd.

The first race had to be aborted after five laps, and only half of the points were awarded for the championship. Todd was classified as the winner, while his team-mate Marek Červený (CZE) was third. Didier Grams (GER / G & G Motorsport by BMW Motorrad) set the fastest race lap and was about to get involved in the battle for the lead when the race was aborted. This saw him classified fourth, ahead of Erno Kostamo (FIN / 38 Motorsport) in fifth place. In the second race, a top ten finish would have been enough for Todd to secure the title but the Brit had higher aspirations and won that race as well. This time BMW racers claimed all of the top four spots. Grams set the fastest lap once again and finished second, Červený was third with Kostamo fourth. Kamil Holan (CZE / McRace) finished in seventh place in both races.

British Superbike Championship: Taylor Mackenzie on the Superstock podium once again.

The British Superbike Championship (BSB) headed to Cadwell Park (GBR) for the eighth round of the season. In the Superbike class races, BMW S 1000 RR riders came away with plenty of points once again. In race one, Peter Hickman (GBR / Smiths Racing) crossed the finish line in fifth place, with Christian Iddon (GBR / Tyco BMW) right behind him in sixth place. Glenn Irwin (GBR / Tyco BMW) finished eighth. In the second race, Iddon in fourth was the best BMW rider, just 0.3 seconds behind him, Hickman was the fifth rider to see the chequered flag, and Irwin finished in sixth place.

In the Superstock class (BSB STK) race, Taylor Mackenzie (GBR) finished on the podium once again. He finished in second place with his Bathams Racing team’s RR.

All Japan Road Race Championship: Fifth round of the season at Motegi.

Motegi in Japan hosted the fifth round of the All Japan Road Race Championship (JP SBK) 2019 season. In the Superbike class race, BMW rider Hoshino Tomoya (JPN / TONE RT SYNCEDGE 4413) finished in 17th place.

CO2 emission information.

Fuel consumption, CO2 emission figures and power consumption and range were measured using the methods required according to Regulation VO (EC) 2007/715 as amended. They refer to vehicles on the German automotive market. For ranges, the NEDC figures take into account differences in the selected wheel and tyre size, while the WLTP figures take into account the effects of any optional equipment.

All figures have already been calculated based on the new WLTP test cycle. NEDC figures listed have been adjusted to the NEDC measurement method where applicable. WLTP values are used as a basis for the assessment of taxes and other vehicle-related duties which are (also) based on CO2 emissions and, where applicable, for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies. Further information on the WLTP and NEDC measurement procedures is also available at www.bmw.de/wltp.

For further details of the official fuel consumption figures and official specific CO2 emissions of new cars, please refer to the “Manual on the fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and power consumption of new cars”, available at sales outlets free of charge, from Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH (DAT), Hellmuth-Hirth-Str. 1, 73760 Ostfildern-Scharnhausen and at https://www.dat.de/co2/.
