Munich. With a very experienced driver and a returning racer, Schubert Motorsport enters the 2026 DTM season. Marco Wittmann (GER) and Kelvin van der Linde (RSA) will be behind the wheel of the two BMW M4 GT3 EVOs, competing for titles in the drivers’, team, and manufacturers’ championships. Wittmann is already entering his 14th season, while van der Linde takes over the seat from René Rast (GER) and celebrates his DTM comeback after a one-year break .

Until the final race of the 2025 season at Hockenheim (GER), Schubert Motorsport fought for the title but ultimately fell just short. Rast was eliminated from the battle for the drivers’ championship after an accident, while Wittmann fought for victory in a dramatic finish and ended the season fifth in the drivers’ standings. Now, the team, led by principal Torsten Schubert, is making a new attempt at the DTM crown, which they claimed in 2022 (drivers’ and team titles) and 2024 (team title).

In his 14th DTM season with BMW M Motorsport, Wittmann has the chance to climb to second place on the all-time list of DTM starters. Currently, he sits in sixth place with 210 race starts. He celebrated drivers’ titles in both 2014 and 2016. Kelvin van der Linde has narrowly missed out on the drivers’ title twice so far. In his debut season in 2021, he finished third overall, and in his most recent season in 2024, he even finished second. Now, after a one-year break, he returns and will make his first attempt at the DTM title in the BMW M4 GT3 EVO.

Andreas Roos (Head of BMW M Motorsport): “After the dramatic season finale in 2025, we still have unfinished business with the DTM. We were so close to winning the title that we are even more motivated to do better this year. I am convinced that, with the successful combination of car, team, and drivers, we have the optimal conditions to fight for the DTM crown. Marco Wittmann proved last year that he has what it takes for a third title. From the very beginning of our collaboration, Kelvin van der Linde had a strong desire to return to the DTM, and I am glad that we can now make this comeback possible for him. He proved with his fantastic successes last season that he is capable of anything in the BMW M4 GT3 EVO. Moreover, his personality is a great asset to the DTM, which in our view is developing excellently. The racing, spectator numbers, and fantastic atmosphere make the DTM an indispensable platform for BMW M Motorsport.”

Torsten Schubert (Team Principal, Schubert Motorsport): “Preparations for the upcoming season are already underway, and we are really looking forward to the new driver pairing with Marco Wittmann and Kelvin van der Linde. Of course, we will need to coordinate with each other, but I think we know each other very well from the past and will quickly find our rhythm. We are looking forward to an exciting season and hope that many fans will join us.”

Marco Wittmann: “I am really looking forward to another DTM season and am truly confident that I can be at the front again. Over the past two seasons with Schubert Motorsport, we have built a great foundation. My crew of engineers and mechanics remains almost unchanged, which is very important because we work well together. In 2025, we were able to fight for the title with both cars right up to the end. My clear goal for 2026 is to win my third DTM title.”

Kelvin van der Linde: “The DTM is a very special championship for me. It was always my childhood dream to race there and win races. I have achieved both, but the ultimate goal remains: to win the DTM title. Sheldon did it in 2022, and now it’s a kind of homecoming at Schubert Motorsport as I, his brother, will also drive for the team. The environment there is fantastic, and I felt very comfortable with the BMW M4 GT3 EVO during the successful 2025 season. In 2026, I want to be successful in the DTM right from the start and fulfill my lifelong dream of winning the drivers’ title. I am very excited and can’t wait for the season to begin.”

CO2 emission information.

Fuel consumption, CO2 emission figures and power consumption and range were measured using the methods required according to Regulation VO (EC) 2007/715 as amended. They refer to vehicles on the German automotive market. For ranges, the NEDC figures take into account differences in the selected wheel and tyre size, while the WLTP figures take into account the effects of any optional equipment.

All figures have already been calculated based on the new WLTP test cycle. NEDC figures listed have been adjusted to the NEDC measurement method where applicable. WLTP values are used as a basis for the assessment of taxes and other vehicle-related duties which are (also) based on CO2 emissions and, where applicable, for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies. Further information are available at www.bmw.de/wltp and at www.dat.de/co2/.
