After long months of not being able to be held, the fastest 42 kilometres on the international running calendar can finally get underway for the 47th time in the German capital. Ethiopians Adola and Gebreslase triumphed at the tenth staging of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON with BMW as title partner. Bernhard Kuhnt, BMW Group Senior Vice President Market Germany, and BMW Brand Ambassador Lena Gercke gave the starting signal for the 25,000 athletes.
It was his big goal for this triathlon season: Alessandro Zanardi (ITA) aimed to stay under the nine-hour mark in a long distance triathlon and the BMW brand ambassador accomplished his mission this Saturday. Zanardi completed the Barcelona triathlon in Spain with a time of 8:58.59 hours.
The clock on 2:03.32 hours as Olympic champion Eluid Kipchoge ran through the Brandenburg Gate to win the 44th BMW BERLIN MARATHON. The 32-year-old was embroiled in a captivating duel with marathon debutant Guye Adola (ETH) on the wet route, and only pulled clear to win in the final kilometre.
On 24th September, the German capital will host the fastest 42 kilometres on the international running calendar for the 44th time: the BMW BERLIN MARATHON.
BMW brand ambassador Alessandro Zanardi has successfully passed his first endurance test of the year. This Sunday, the Italian competed in the IRONMAN 70.3 Italy in Pescara (ITA). He completed the total distance of 113 kilometres in a time of 4 hours, 26 minutes and 58 seconds. In the overall classification, he claimed 26th place. Nearly 1.100 athletes took part in this triathlon at the Italian Adriatic coast.
Alessandro Zanardi (ITA) has added another event to his 2017 triathlon schedule: on 18th June, he will take part in the IRONMAN 70.3 Italy, Pescara. After he had won two more Paralympic gold medals in handcycling in Rio de Janeiro (BRA) in 2016, the BMW Brand Ambassador decided to intensify his activities in long distance triathlons for this year.
More than one million spectators, about 70,000 runners from 130 countries, and 5,500 volunteers: the German capital will once again be transformed into a gigantic open-air stadium for the 43rd BMW BERLIN MARATHON on 25th September. The marathon festival is the highlight of the extensive BMW Running commitment. As at all the major marathon events in Germany, the fully-electric BMW i3 will be used as the official timing and lead car.
The fifth season has descended upon Munich (DE). Since Saturday, the 182nd Oktoberfest has been attracting millions of people from all over the world to the Theresienwiese. In glorious late summer weather, BMW gathered its sporting ambassadors and well-known athletes from various disciplines at the traditional BMW Wiesn Sport-Stammtisch at the largest and most famous festival in the world.
The BMW i3 leads the way at the fastest marathon in the world – Title partner BMW provides over 70 cars to support the event and allow millions to experience the mobility of the future.

CO2-Emissionen & Verbrauch.
