Munich / London. The Design Museum London will be presenting a BMW

"FORMULA ONE - The Great Race Design" at the "Design
Museum Tank" from July 11th until mid September. The BMW Group
exhibit will be part of an exhibition depicting the history and
technology of Formula 1 motor racing, beginning at the time of its
origins in the fifties. Some of the secrets behind the sport will be
revealed to the public for the first time. An "iconic car"
from each decade will be displayed and information provided on the
design and technological development of these vehicles with regard to
aerodynamics, chassis, drive and cockpit. Moreover, the museum will
offer a peek behind the scenes, giving an insight into a Formula 1
racing season and the teams involved. The object is to supply the
observer with in-depth information on the amount of organisational work
teams are faced with, the complexity of the races, as well as the
atmosphere at the racetrack. The exhibition also risks a glance into
the future, based on the predictions of some key industries working on
the development of racing car technology and design. Formula 1 racing
is one of the world's most popular sports. It stands out from others
due to the speed evident not only on the racetrack but also in its
technological advancement. For the first time, a team led by BMW will be
competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship 2006, namely the BMW
Sauber F1 Team with drivers Nick Heidfeld, Jacques Villeneuve and test
driver Robert Kubica at the wheel of the BMW Sauber F1.06. The Design
Museum has chosen the "Museum Tank" as the exhibition venue, a
cube-shaped glass building located on the publicly accessible grounds in
front of the museum on the Thames Embankment. Therefore, it will be
possible to experience the BMW Sauber F1 Team racing car in London
without charge and at first hand. For further information please
